Best performed former West Virginia University players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Mountaineers alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Experienced Joe Alexander (6'8''-C/F-86, graduated '08, plays pro in Turkey) led Besiktas to a victory over the 12th-ranked Buyukcekmece (6-12) 90-84 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. He was MVP of the game. Alexander recorded 24 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 28 minutes. Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul (11-11) is placed fifth in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Alexander averages 9.7ppg and 4.2rpg in nine games he played so far. He is a naturalized Israeli.

   #2. Da'Sean Butler (6'7''-F-88, graduated '10, plays in Israel) was the major contributor in a Hapoel Jerusalem's victory against the closely-ranked Neptunas (8-6) 86-74 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Hapoel Jerusalem (12-2) is placed second in group C. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. This season Butler averages 9.8ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Kevin Jones (6'9''-F-89, graduated '12, currently in Japan) was the main contributor in a Ryukyu GK's victory against the sixth-ranked Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (10-32) crushing them 88-54 in the Japanese B League in Sunday night's game. Jones was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 12 rebounds. Jones also added and 3 steals in 31 minutes. Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa (27-15) is placed first in West group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Jones has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 16.0ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg in 11 games.

   #4. John Flowers (6'7''-F-89, graduated '11, plays pro in Argentina) could not help La Union (12-19) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance La Union was defeated 95-89 at home by the leading San Lorenzo. Flowers was the top scorer with 22 points. He also added 5 rebounds (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line). It's Flowers' first season with the team. This year Flowers has very high stats. He averages 17.1ppg, 6.5rpg and 2.1apg.

   #5. Jevon Carter (6'2''-G-95, graduated '18, plays in the NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Dallas Mavericks (27-37) crushing them 111-81 in the NBA on Saturday night. He recorded 15 points and blocked 2 shots in just a mere 12 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Carter's first season in pro basketball. The Memphis Grizzlies have 26-40 record this season. It's Carter's first year with the team. This year he averages 3.3ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.6apg in 28 games.

   #6. Devin Ebanks (6'9''-F-89, graduated '10, currently in France), who plays in the French Jeep ELITE ProA was not able to help Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket (14-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite Ebanks' very good performance Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket was defeated 83-78 on the road by the league outsider Levallois (#18). He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 11 rebounds. This season Ebanks has very high stats. He averages 20.7ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.5apg.

   #7. Juwan Staten (6'1''-PG-92, graduated '15, plays pro in Finland) contributed to a Helsinki Seagulls' victory against the closely-ranked BC Nokia 102-93 in the Finnish Korisliiga last Sunday. He was MVP of the game. Staten had a double-double by scoring 22 points and making 13 passes in 35 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year 17.9ppg, 2.9rpg and 5.5apg in 22 games.

   #8. Teyvon Myers (6'2''-G-94, graduated '17, plays in Sweden) helped KFUM Jamtland Basket win their game against the closely-ranked Norrkoping Dolphins 94-82 in the Swedish Basketligan on Saturday night. He recorded 16 points and added 4 assists. This season Myers has very high stats. He averages 17.6ppg, 3.0rpg and 3.7apg.

   #9. Darryl Bryant (6'1''-PG-90, graduated '12, currently in Uruguay) helped Goes win their game against the second-ranked Hebraica 92-76 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB in Wednesday night's game. He scored 19 points and added 5 passes in 37 minutes. It was his first game for Goes this season.

   #10. Alex Ruoff (6'6''-F/G-86, graduated '09, plays pro in Finland) is a teammate of previously mentioned Juwan Staten. But that was another game of his team in Finnish Korisliiga which we would like to mention. Ruoff helped Helsinki Seagulls win their game against one of league's weakest teams UU-Korihait crushing them 96-75. He recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Ruoff has relatively good stats this season 13.1ppg, 5.6rpg and 3.9apg.
