Top University of Southern California alumni playing currently pro basketball

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Trojans alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. DeMar DeRozan (6'7''-F/G-89, graduated '09, plays pro in the NBA) could not help the San Antonio Spurs (32-26) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the San Antonio Spurs (32-26) lost 118-127 on the road to the Portland Trail Blazers. DeRozan was the top scorer with 35 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 35 minutes. It was Spurs' fourth consecutive loss in a row. DeRozan has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 21.5ppg, 6.1rpg and 6.2apg in 53 games he played so far.

   #2. Daniel Hackett (6'4''-G-87, graduated '09, plays in Russia) led his Russian team CSKA to a victory against the closely-ranked Real Madrid (17-5) 82-78 in the Euroleague last Friday. Hackett recorded 14 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. CSKA Moscow (16-6) is placed third in the Euroleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Hackett's first season with the team. This year he averages 6.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.6apg. Hackett is a naturalized Italian.

   #3. Experienced Davon Jefferson (6'9''-F-86, graduated '08, currently in Italy) led MIA-RO Cantu to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Grissin Bon RE (5-14) 99-89 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday night. Jefferson was MVP of the game. He recorded 32 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds in 33 minutes. MIA-Red October Cantu (9-10) is placed tenth in the Serie A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Jefferson has very impressive stats this year 18.3ppg, 9.3rpg and 3.1apg in 18 games.

   #4. Nikola Vucevic (7'0''-C-90, graduated '11, plays pro in the NBA) was the major contributor in an Orlando Magic's victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (26-30) 122-112 in the NBA in Thursday night's game. Vucevic recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. The Orlando Magic has 25-32 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Vucevic's seventh year with the team. This season Vucevic has very high stats. He averages 20.5ppg, 12.0rpg, 3.8apg and 1.2bpg.

   #5. Dwight Lewis (6'6''-G/F-87, graduated '10, plays in Argentina) contributed to a 3-point Gimnasia's victory against the closely-ranked Libertad Sunchales (9-7) 82-79 in the Argentinian La Liga last Wednesday. Lewis scored 12 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals in 35 minutes. Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia (9-6) is placed sixth in the La Liga. It's Lewis' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 13.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.1apg in 15 games. Lewis is a naturalized Venezuelan.

   #6. Strahinja Gavrilovic (6'9''-F/C-93, graduated '16, currently in Serbia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Vrsac crushing them 100-74 in the KLS on Wednesday night. Gavrilovic recorded 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He has relatively good stats this season 13.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.1apg.

   #7. Dewayne Dedmon (7'0''-C-89, graduated '13, plays pro in the NBA) was not able to help the Atlanta Hawks (18-38) in their last game. Despite Dedmon's good performance the Atlanta Hawks lost 120-129 in Charlotte to the Hornets. He recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. Dedmon has relatively good stats this year 10.3ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.3apg in 46 games.

   #8. Taj Gibson (6'9''-F-85, graduated '09, plays in the NBA) contributed to a Minnesota Timberwolves' victory against the Los Angeles Clippers 130-120 in the NBA last Monday. He scored 14 points. Gibson has relatively good stats this season 10.4ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.2apg.

   #9. Jordan McLaughlin (6'1''-G-96, graduated '18, currently in the NBA G League), who plays in the NBA G League was not able to secure a victory for the Long Island Nets (22-14) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Long Island Nets (#2) were edged 109-107 in Newark, Delaware by the Delaware Blue Coats. McLaughlin scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 31 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year 16.1ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.5apg and 1.6spg in 25 games.

   #10. Nikola Jovanovic (6'11''-C/F-94, graduated '16, plays pro in Italy) managed to help Dolomiti Energia Trento to win against the second-ranked Umana Venezia 81-77 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. Jovanovic recorded 5 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. This season he averages 6.1ppg and 4.2rpg.
