Top St. John's University alumni playing currently pro basketball

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Red Storm alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Dwight Hardy (6'2''-SG-87, graduated '11, plays in France) led Limoges CSP Elite to a victory against the closely-ranked SIG Strasbourg (11-9) 90-76 in the French Jeep ELITE last Saturday. He scored 12 points and added 9 passes. Limoges CSP Elite (12-8) is placed fifth in the Jeep ELITE. It's Hardy's first season with the team. Hardy has relatively good stats this year 12.1ppg, 1.5rpg and 2.9apg. He is a naturalized Congolese.

   #2. Experienced Eugene Lawrence (6'1''-PG-86, graduated '08, currently in Czech Republic), who plays in Czech Republic could not help CEZ Nymburk (4-10) in their last game. Despite his good performance the seventh-placed CEZ Nymburk (4-10) lost 71-78 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Brose Baskets in the group C of Basketball Champions League. Lawrence was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 6 passes in 23 minutes. The Regular Season already ended in the Basketball Champions League. This year Lawrence averages 10.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.6apg and 1.8spg in 13 games he played so far.

   #3. Omar-Sharif Cook (6'1''-PG-82, graduated '01, plays pro in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Movistar Estudiantes Madrid's victory against the closely-ranked Andorra (10-10) 91-90 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Cook scored 11 points, grabbed 6 boards, dished 9 assists and stole 3 balls. Movistar Estudiantes Madrid (9-7) is placed seventh in the Liga Endesa. This season Cook averages 7.1ppg, 2.4rpg, 6.2apg and 1.5spg. He is a naturalized Montenegrin.

   #4. JaKarr Sampson (6'9''-F-93, graduated '14, plays in the NBA G League) was the major contributor in a Windy City Bulls' victory against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (18-17) 116-98 in the NBA G League last Friday. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group E Central. The Windy City Bulls have 19-17 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Sampson has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 21.1ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.4apg in 11 games.

   #5. Lamont Hamilton (6'10''-C/F-84, graduated '07, currently in Japan) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (10-30) 79-64 in the Japanese B League on Saturday night. Hamilton recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 3 blocks. Niigata Albirex (29-11) is placed first in Central group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Hamilton has very high stats. He averages 16.6ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6bpg.

   #6. Sir'Dominic Pointer (6'6''-G/F-92, graduated '15, plays pro in the NBA G League) was not able to help the Canton Charge in their game against the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League, despite his very good performance in Friday night's game. He recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and made 2 blocks in 30 minutes. But his team was badly defeated by 16 points 112-96 in the NBA G League. This year Pointer averages 8.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2bpg and 1.6spg in 34 games.

   #7. Bashir Ahmed (6'7''-F/G-93, graduated '18, plays in Kosovo) contributed to an easy victory against the league leader Bashkimi crushing them 109-78 in the Kosovan Superliga last Saturday. He scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ahmed has relatively good stats this season 12.3ppg and 4.3rpg.

   #8. DJ Kennedy (6'6''-F-89, graduated '11, currently in Australia) contributed to a 2-point Melbourne United's victory against the closely-ranked Adelaide 36ers 89-87 in the Australian NBL on Sunday night. Kennedy scored 10 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, passed 6 assists and added 2 blocks in 30 minutes. Kennedy has relatively good stats this year 12.9ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.9apg and 1.3spg in 22 games.

   #9. Richard Freudenberg (6'9''-F-98, graduated '18, plays pro in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt in their game against Lokomotiv in the Eurocup. Freudenberg scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. His team was crushed by 26 points 84-58. This season Freudenberg averages 3.3ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.3apg.

   #10. Federico Mussini (6'2''-G-96, graduated '17, plays in Italy) couldn't help Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia in their game against MIA-RO Cantu in the Italian Serie A, despite his very good performance last Saturday. He was the second best scorer with 14 points in a mere 17 minutes. But his team lost 89-99. This year Mussini averages 6.1ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.2apg in 19 games.
