Top University of Texas at Arlington alumni playing currently pro basketball

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top former Mavericks players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Experienced Marquez Haynes (6'3''-PG-86, graduated '10, plays pro in Italy) contributed to an Umana Reyer Venezia's victory against the seventh-ranked Fribourg (3-11) 72-62 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. He scored 6 points in 18 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (10-4) is placed second in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Haynes has relatively good stats this year 14.1ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.9apg in 14 games he played so far. He is a naturalized Georgian.

   #2. LaMarcus Reed (6'5''-G/F-88, graduated '12, plays in Bulgaria) could not help Balkan (3-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance the first-placed Balkan (3-3) was badly defeated 105-88 on the road by the lower-ranked Levski Lukoil (#4) in the group J of FIBA Europe Cup. Reed scored 11 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 5 assists. There are only two games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Reed has relatively good stats this season 11.3ppg, 7.3rpg and 3.3apg.

   #3. Karol Gruszecki (6'4''-G/F-89, graduated '13, currently in Poland) was not able to help Polski Cukier Torun in their game against Anwil (14-4) in the Polish EBL, despite his good performance last Sunday. Gruszecki recorded 12 points in 25 minutes. But Polski Cukier Torun lost 80-89 in Wloclawek to the lower-ranked (#4) Anwil. It was Polski Cukier Torun's first loss after six consecutive victories. Gruszecki has relatively good stats this year 11.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.1apg and 1.1spg in 18 games.

   #4. Johnny Hamilton (7'0''-C-94, graduated '18, plays pro in the NBA G League) was the major contributor in a Grand Rapids Drive's victory against the Windy City Bulls (19-17) crushing them 113-92 in the NBA G League in Saturday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 13 rebounds. Hamilton also added 2 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. The Grand Rapids Drive has 17-18 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Hamilton has relatively good stats this season 12.7ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.2apg and 2.7bpg.

   #5. Anthony Walker (6'9''-F-93, graduated '15, plays in the NBA G League) led Stockton Kings to an easy victory against the Sioux Falls Skyforce (23-15) 126-107 in the NBA G League last Saturday. He scored 20 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 30 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group W Pacific. The Stockton Kings have 21-14 record this season. This year Walker averages 4.7ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.3bpg in 29 games.

   #6. Kevin Hervey (6'9''-F-96, graduated '18, currently in the NBA G League) was not able to secure a victory for the Oklahoma City Blue in their game against the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League. Despite his good performance in Friday night's game He recorded 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. This season Hervey averages 7.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.1bpg and 1.1spg.

   #7. Brandon Edwards (6'6''-F-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Israel) led Elitzur Yavne to a 3-point victory against the closely-ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata 86-83 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Tuesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 26 minutes. Edwards has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 17.8ppg and 11.3rpg in four games.

   #8. Erick Neal (5'10''-PG-95, graduated '18, plays in Turkey) led Yeni Mamak to an easy victory against the second-ranked Karesi Spor crushing them 113-90 in the Turkish TBL (second division) last Saturday. Neal recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and making 13 passes. He also added 5 rebounds. This season Neal has very high stats. He averages 16.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 8.1apg and 1.5spg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.
