Top University of Miami, Florida alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Hurricanes players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Shane Larkin (5'11''-PG-92, graduated '13, plays pro in Turkey) led Anadolu Efes to a victory over the 11th-ranked Banvit (6-11) 93-85 in the Turkish BSL in Monday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Larkin scored 20 points and added 8 passes in 25 minutes. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (16-1) is placed first in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Larkin's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 12.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 4.3apg and 1.3spg in seven games he played so far.

   #2. Tonye Jekiri (7'0''-C-94, graduated '16, plays in Turkey) was the major contributor in a Gaziantep Basketbol's victory against the 13th-ranked Sakarya BSB (5-12) crushing them 83-58 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. He scored 17 points, had 9 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 4 balls; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Jekiri's third season in pro basketball. Gaziantep Basketbol (10-7) is placed fifth in the BSL. It's Jekiri's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season 12.4ppg, 10.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Julian Gamble (6'10''-F/C-89, graduated '13, currently in France) was the main contributor in a JSF Nanterre's victory against the fifth-ranked Hapoel Holon (7-7) 74-62 in the Basketball Champions League on Tuesday night. Gamble was MVP of the game. He scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 23 minutes. JSF Nanterre (8-6) is placed third in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Gamble's first season with the team. This year Gamble averages 8.7ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1bpg in 15 games.

   #4. Durand Scott (6'5''-F/G-90, graduated '13, plays pro in Israel) contributed to a 2-point Hapoel Galil Gilboa's victory against one of league's weakest teams Ironi Nahariya (5-11) 89-87 in the Israeli Winner League in Monday night's game. Scott scored 25 points and added 3 assists. Hapoel Galil Gilboa (7-10) is placed eighth in the Winner League. It was his team's first victory after six consecutive loses. Scott has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 20.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.0apg and 2.0spg. Scott is a naturalized Jamaican.

   #5. DeQuan Jones (6'8''-F-90, graduated '12, plays in Israel) faced previously mentioned Julian Gamble in the Basketball Champions League last game. Jones. He could not help Hapoel Unet Holon (7-7) to beat JSF Nanterre (8-6). Jones scored 7 points in 24 minutes. The fifth-placed Hapoel Unet Holon (7-7) lost 62-74 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) JSF Nanterre in the group B of Basketball Champions League. It was Hapoel Unet Holon's third consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the Basketball Champions League. It's Jones' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 14.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.7apg in 13 games.

   #6. Bruce Brown (6'5''-G-96, graduated '18, currently in the NBA) contributed to a Detroit Pistons' victory against the Washington Wizards 121-112 in the NBA on Monday night. He scored 9 points. This season Brown averages 4.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.3apg.

   #7. Kenny Kadji (6'11''-F-88, graduated '13, plays pro in Turkey) managed to help Tofas Bursa in a victory against one of league's weakest teams Afyon Bld crushing them 95-74 in the Turkish BSL in Sunday night's game. He scored only 2 points in 19 minutes. Kadji has relatively good stats this year 12.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2apg in 15 games.

   #8. Experienced Brian Asbury (6'7''-PF-86, graduated '09, plays in Finland) was not able to help Kouvot (13-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Kouvot was defeated 91-80 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Joensuun_Kataja (#9). Asbury was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 6 rebounds. This season Asbury has very high stats. He averages 18.9ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.4apg and 1.5spg.

   #9. Lonnie Walker IV (6'5''-G/F-98, graduated '18, currently in the NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the San Antonio Spurs in their game against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He recorded only 4 points in 26 minutes. His team were crushed by 39 points 141-102 in the NBA. This year Walker IV averages 2.3ppg and 1.7rpg in six games.

   #10. Malcolm Grant (6'1''-PG-88, graduated '12, plays pro in Lithuania) couldn't help Prienu Skycop in their game against Lietkabelis in the Lithuanian LKL. Despite his good performance in Saturday night's game He recorded 11 points. This season Grant averages 6.0ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.5apg.
