Best performed former Marquette University players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Golden Eagles alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Jimmy Butler (6'7''-G/F-89, graduated '11, plays pro in the NBA) was the major contributor in a Philadelphia 76ers' victory against the Denver Nuggets (38-18) 117-110 in the NBA last Friday. He scored 22 points, had 7 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 3 balls (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!) in 36 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers have a solid 36-20 record this season. It's Butler's first year with the team. Butler has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 19.0ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.8apg and 2.0spg in 33 games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Dwyane Wade (6'4''-G-82, graduated '03, plays in the NBA) led Miami Heat to a victory against the Portland Trail Blazers (33-23) 118-108 in the NBA on Tuesday night. Wade scored 22 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. The Miami Heat has 25-30 record this season. This year Wade has very high stats. He averages 13.9ppg, 3.9rpg and 4.4apg.

   #3. Davante Gardner (6'8''-PF-91, graduated '14, currently in Japan) led Niigata Albirex to a victory over the sixth-ranked Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (10-30) crushing them 84-60 in the Japanese B League in Sunday night's game. Gardner was MVP of the game. He recorded 27 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists in 31 minutes. Niigata Albirex (29-11) is placed first in Central group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Gardner has very impressive stats this year 26.6ppg, 10.7rpg and 3.9apg in 40 games.

   #4. Andrew Rowsey (5'11''-PG-94, graduated '18, plays pro in Hungary) could not help Szolnok (1-5) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Rowsey's good performance the fourth-placed Szolnok (1-5) was defeated 92-83 at home by the leading s Oliver Baskets in the group I of FIBA Europe Cup. He scored 11 points, had 5 boards, dished 6 assists and stole 3 balls. The Second Stage already ended in the FIBA Europe Cup. It's Rowsey's first season with the team. Rowsey has relatively good stats this year 12.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg.

   #5. Chris Otule (6'11''-C-90, graduated '14, plays in France) was not able to help Sharks Antibes (5-13) in their last game. Despite Otule's very good performance Sharks Antibes lost 80-91 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#5) Chalons-Reims. He was the top scorer with 26 points. Otule also added 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. It's Otule's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 12.4ppg and 3.8rpg in 12 games. Otule is a naturalized Nigerian.

   #6. Darius Johnson-Odom (6'2''-PG-89, graduated '12, currently in the NBA G League), who plays in the NBA G League was not able to secure a victory for the Iowa Wolves (14-24) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Johnson-Odom's very good performance the Iowa Wolves (#4) were crushed 134-111 in Newark, Delaware by the Delaware Blue Coats. He was the top scorer with 26 points. Johnson-Odom also added 5 assists. This season he has very high stats. Johnson-Odom averages 22.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 4.0apg and 1.4spg.

   #7. Jae Crowder (6'6''-F-90, graduated '12, plays pro in the NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Phoenix Suns crushing them 116-88 in the NBA last Wednesday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 20 minutes. Crowder has very impressive stats this year 11.9ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.6apg in 55 games.

   #8. Matt Carlino (6'3''-PG-92, graduated '15, plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked Denain Voltaire crushing them 99-68 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. He scored 16 points and added 5 passes. This season Carlino has very high stats. He averages 16.1ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.9apg and 1.3spg. Carlino is a naturalized Italian.

   #9. Travis Diener (6'1''-PG-82, graduated '05, currently in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Virtus Bologna 87-70 in the Italian Serie A in Saturday night's game. Diener recorded 7 points in 22 minutes. This year he averages 8.6ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.3apg in 19 games. Diener is a naturalized Italian.

   #10. Juan Toscano (6'6''-F-93, graduated '15, plays pro in the NBA G League) contributed to a Santa Cruz Warriors' victory against the Stockton Kings 95-88 in the NBA G League last Wednesday. Toscano scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. This season he averages 7.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.1apg and 1.3spg. Toscano is a naturalized Mexican.
