Best performed former North Carolina State University players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Wolfpack alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Dennis Smith Jr. (6'3''-G-97, graduated '17, plays pro in the NBA) could not help the New York Knicks (10-45) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the New York Knicks (10-45) were badly defeated 120-103 on the road by the Detroit Pistons. Smith Jr. was the top scorer with 31 points. He also added 8 passes in 35 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Smith Jr.'s second season in pro basketball. It was New York Knicks' 16th consecutive loss in a row. Smith Jr. has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 19.3ppg, 3.5rpg, 6.5apg and 1.5spg in four games he played so far.

   #2. Abdul-Malik Abu (6'8''-F-95, graduated '18, plays in Croatia) led KK Vrijednosnice Osijek to a victory against the closely-ranked Sibenik (7-9) 104-95 in the Croatian Premijer Liga on Monday night. Abu recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 17 rebounds. He also added 5 assists; not bad, considering it's only Abu's first season in pro basketball. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (7-7) is placed sixth in the Premijer Liga. It's Abu's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season 15.0ppg, 9.2rpg and 1.5apg.

   #3. Allerik Freeman (6'3''-G-94, graduated '18, currently in Hungary) led Alba to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Szedeak (5-14) 78-68 in the Hungarian A Division in Friday night's game. Freeman was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 40 minutes. Alba Fehervar (8-11) is placed 11th in the A Division. Freeman has very impressive stats this year 15.7ppg, 4.4rpg and 3.7apg in 19 games.

   #4. Experienced Josh Powell (6'9''-F/C-83, graduated '03, plays pro in Argentina) was not able to help Atenas (11-13) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Powell's very good performance Atenas was crushed 83-62 at home by the lower-ranked Quimsa (#5). He was the top scorer with 16 points. Powell also added 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Powell has relatively good stats this year 11.0ppg, 8.6rpg and 1.5apg.

   #5. Anthony Barber (6'2''-PG-94, graduated '16, plays in the NBA G League) was not able to secure a victory for the Greensboro Swarm (17-17) in their last game. Despite Barber's very good performance the Greensboro Swarm (#4) was crushed 121-98 in Portland by the Maine Red Claws. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Barber also added 4 assists in 23 minutes. Barber has relatively good stats this year 10.8ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.0apg in 24 games.

   #6. Scott Wood (6'6''-SF-90, graduated '13, currently in France), who plays in the French Jeep ELITE couldn't help BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral (12-8) in their last game on Monday. Despite his good performance BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral was crushed 91-66 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Chalon/Saor (#6). Wood was the second best scorer with 12 points. This season Wood averages 8.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.8apg.

   #7. Trevor Lacey (6'2''-SG-91, graduated '16, plays pro in Russia) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners crushing them 84-58 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Lacey scored 7 points in 17 minutes. This year Lacey averages 6.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.2apg in 14 games.

   #8. Brandon Costner (6'9''-F-87, graduated '09, plays in Japan) couldn't help Yokohama BC in their game against Fukuoka Rizing in the Japanese B League. Despite his very good performance last Sunday Costner was the second best scorer with 21 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. This season Costner has very high stats. He averages 22.1ppg, 8.8rpg and 4.6apg.

   #9. Lennard Freeman (6'8''-F-95, graduated '18, currently in Turkey) couldn't help Final Spor in their game against Selcuklu in the Turkish TBL (second division), despite his very good performance on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds in 32 minutes. But his team lost 70-79. Freeman has very impressive stats this year 15.9ppg, 11.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1bpg in 16 games.

   #10. Desmond Lee (6'4''-G-90, graduated '15, plays pro in Canada) contributed to a St. John's Edge's victory against the Cape Breton Highlanders 105-100 in the NBL Canada last Monday. Lee scored 18 points, had 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks. This season Lee has very high stats. He averages 15.9ppg, 11.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1bpg.
