Best performed former West Virginia University players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Mountaineers alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. John Flowers (6'7''-F-89, graduated '11, plays pro in Argentina) led La Union to a surprising victory over the league leader Regatas Corrientes (12-5) 91-77 in the Argentinian La Liga last Sunday. He was MVP of the game. Flowers recorded 27 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists in 38 minutes. La Union Formosa (9-16) is placed seventh in the La Liga. Flowers has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 16.3ppg, 6.8rpg and 2.3apg in 13 games he played so far.

   #2. Da'Sean Butler (6'7''-F-88, graduated '10, plays in Israel) led his Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem to a 2-point victory against the sixth-ranked JDA Dijon (5-9) 85-83 in the Basketball Champions League on Wednesday night. He scored 12 points. Hapoel Jerusalem (12-2) is placed second in group C. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Butler's first season with the team. This year Butler averages 9.4ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Devin Ebanks (6'9''-F-89, graduated '10, currently in France) led Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket to a victory over the 16th-ranked Olympique Antibes (5-13) 91-80 in the French Jeep ELITE in Friday night's game. Ebanks was MVP of the game. He scored 25 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 40 minutes. Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket (13-7) is placed fifth in the Jeep ELITE. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. It's Ebanks' first season with the team. Ebanks has very impressive stats this year 20.8ppg, 7.2rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg in 20 games.

   #4. Gary Browne (6'1''-G-93, graduated '15, plays pro in Israel) was the main contributor in a 2-point Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona's victory against the closely-ranked Hapoel Eilat (11-6) 82-80 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. Browne was MVP of the game. He scored 18 points. Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona (8-8) is placed sixth in the Winner League. Browne has relatively good stats this season 14.9ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.7apg and 1.2spg. He is a naturalized Puerto Rican.

   #5. Kevin Jones (6'9''-F-89, graduated '12, plays in Japan) could not help Ryukyu GK (25-15) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Ryukyu GK (25-15) lost 79-87 on the road to the leading Niigata Albirex in the West group. Jones was the top scorer with 30 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 39 minutes. It was Ryukyu GK's fifth consecutive loss in a row. Jones has very impressive stats this year 17.9ppg, 10.5rpg, 2.1apg and 1.4spg in eight games.

   #6. Teyvon Myers (6'2''-G-94, graduated '17, currently in Sweden) was the major contributor in a KFUM Jamtland Basket's victory against the closely-ranked Umea 98-84 in the Swedish Basketligan in Thursday night's game. Myers recorded 20 points and added 4 passes (made all of his nine free throws !!!). This season Myers has very high stats. He averages 17.4ppg, 3.1rpg and 3.6apg.

   #7. Juwan Staten (6'1''-PG-92, graduated '15, plays pro in Finland) was not able to help Helsinki Seagulls (10-16) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Helsinki Seagulls lost 75-85 on the opponent's court to the second-ranked Kauhajoki. Staten was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 37 minutes. Staten has very impressive stats this year 17.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 5.0apg in 18 games.

   #8. Devin Williams (6'9''-C-94, graduated '16, plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Demir Insaat Buyukcekmece Basket in their game against Sakarya BSB in the Turkish BSL. Williams scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. His team was defeated 73-69. This season Williams has very high stats. He averages 18.1ppg, 12.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg.

   #9. Jevon Carter (6'2''-G-95, graduated '18, currently in the NBA) couldn't help the Memphis Grizzlies in their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. He scored only 4 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 22 minutes. His team were crushed by 22 points 117-95 in the NBA. This year Carter averages 2.9ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.8apg in 23 games.

   #10. Experienced Alex Ruoff (6'6''-F/G-86, graduated '09, plays pro in Finland) is a teammate of previously mentioned Juwan Staten. But that was another game of his team in Finnish Korisliiga which we would like to mention. Ruoff couldn't help Helsinki Seagulls (10-16) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance Helsinki Seagulls was edged 86-85 in Tampere by the higher-ranked en Pyrinto (#3). Ruoff was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 7 rebounds. Ruoff has relatively good stats this season 11.3ppg, 5.3rpg and 4.3apg.
