Time to recognize the unsung heroes behind Team USA Basketball - Jan 31, 2019

While we are well aware of the people on the field that make the USA Basketball team what it is because of their consistent performance on the court, do we really know the people behind the scene that make it possible for these star players to becomeā€¦ well, star players?
When you say you are a fan of basketball, do you know the name Reggie Hearn, Travis Trice or Jeff Van Gundy? The answer, most probably, is a no. But you should know that these are the guys that make sure that the United States Basketball team is eligible to play for international competitions. If you are into sports betting, we are sure you would like to check out this welcome offer . However, if you are looking to bet on unsung heroes, there is nothing like the USA basketball team.

How USA Basketball Has to Change to Adjust to Different Needs?

That is because FIBA has made the decision not to allow NBA and Euro League players to play in the World Cup or the Olympics. Instead, the USA team had to depend on the G league which is a minor league of the NBA to create a team that has managed to make their way into the World Cup on December 2, much to the relief of the newly appointed coach Van Gundy.
According to FIBA, this structure was created so that people who still haven't made it to the big league gets a chance to show their talents to the audience who do not yet know these players. Once they finish the final qualifying window in February of this year, coach Gundy would have coached six separate rosters since November of 2017.
Had the team lost out on a position for the world cup, these players, as well as the coaches and supporting staff, would have been called out for such a reckless move. And Jeff van Gundy definitely knows that!
FIBA is a different ballgame altogether when compared to NBA because of the sheer amount of physicality involved in the game. The fact that the coach managed got to get all his players, even though they aren't the best players of the lot get used to the new format so quickly and efficiently, speaks volumes about his leadership and coaching skills. In spite of the lack of big names in the USA basketball team, it managed to retain its position as an influential leader in the World Cup qualifiers.
In fact, the best part about the new USA Basketball team is that not one of the players seem to be putting their interests ahead of the collective team interest and that is one of the biggest wins of coach Jeff Van Gundy. Sean Ford, Trajan Langdon, and Adam Simon should be given due credit for picking out a team that works as seamlessly as this one. No doubt it was not an easy feat.
Are you looking forward to the USA Basketball team playing too?

Texas Takes Care of Oklahoma State at Home - 9 hours ago
Austin, TX - Entering Saturday losing seven of their last eight games, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were unable to reverse their fortune with a 69-57 loss to the Texas Longhorns. The two teams split the season series with each winning on their home floors. The Longhorns are now 12-2 on the year when scoring 69 points or more. The Cowboys were able to jump out to an early lead scoring what proved to be their only fast break points of the day on back-to-back possessions. Texas would settle d...   [read more]
