Top University of North Carolina alumni playing currently pro basketball

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Tar Heels alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Reggie Bullock (6'7''-G-91, graduated '13, plays pro in the NBA) was the major contributor in a Detroit Pistons' victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-18) 129-123 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He recorded 33 points (!!!) in 43 minutes. The Detroit Pistons have 15-16 record this season. It's Bullock's fourth year with the team. Bullock has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 12.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.3apg.

   #2. Harrison Barnes (6'8''-F-92, graduated '12, plays in the NBA) could not help the Dallas Mavericks (15-17) in their last game. Despite Barnes' very good performance the Dallas Mavericks (15-17) lost 118-126 on the road to the Denver Nuggets. He was the top scorer with 30 points. Barnes also added 4 rebounds. Barnes has very impressive stats this year 18.1ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.1apg in 27 games he played so far.

   #3. Marvin Williams (6'9''-F-86, graduated '05, currently in the NBA) led Charlotte Hornets to a victory over the Detroit Pistons (15-16) 98-86 in the NBA last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Williams scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 32 minutes. The Charlotte Hornets have 16-16 record this season. It's Williams' fifth year with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 9.7ppg and 5.5rpg.

   #4. Ty Lawson (5'11''-PG-87, graduated '09, plays pro in China) was not able to help Shandong Golden Stars (10-13) in their last game. Despite Lawson's very good performance Shandong Golden Stars lost 100-113 in Beijing to the lower-ranked (#18) Fly Dragons. He was the top scorer with 28 points. Lawson also added 5 rebounds and dished 7 assists. It was his first game for Shandong Golden Stars this season.

   #5. Kennedy Meeks (6'10''-F-95, graduated '17, plays in Japan) contributed to a SeaHorses Mikawa's victory against the leader Niigata Albirex (16-10) 86-73 in the Japanese B League in Sunday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 21 rebounds. Meeks also added 6 assists and 2 blocks in 40 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. SeaHorses Mikawa (13-13) is placed fourth in Central group. This season Meeks has very high stats. He averages 18.4ppg, 13.5rpg, 6.1apg, 1.3bpg and 1.5spg.

   #6. Experienced Tyler Hansbrough (6'9''-F-85, graduated '09, currently in China), who plays in the Chinese CBA was not able to secure a victory for Zhejiang Chouzhou (8-15) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Zhejiang Chouzhou lost 107-111 in Shenzhen to the much higher-ranked (#4) Leopards. Hansbrough had a double-double by scoring 34 points and getting 19 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. Hansbrough has very impressive stats this year 20.5ppg, 10.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.5spg in 22 games.

   #7. JP Tokoto (6'6''-F-93, graduated '15, plays pro in Israel) helped Hapoel Eilat win their game against the closely-ranked Galil Gilboa 88-70 in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. Tokoto recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 26 minutes. Tokoto has relatively good stats this season 12.6ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.9spg. He is a naturalized Cameroonian.

   #8. Vince Carter (6'6''-G/F-77, graduated '98, plays in the NBA) was the main contributor in a 3-point Atlanta Hawks' victory against the Detroit Pistons 98-95 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Carter scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. This year Carter averages 6.9ppg and 2.5rpg in 28 games.

   #9. Marcus Paige (6'1''-PG-93, graduated '16, currently in Serbia), who plays in Serbia couldn't help one of league's weakest teams BC Partizan NiS Beograd (6-6) in their game last Saturday. Despite his good performance BC Partizan NiS Beograd was defeated 76-71 in Zagreb by the higher-ranked Cedevita (#4). Paige was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 27 minutes. Paige has relatively good stats this season 12.3ppg, 2.9rpg, 5.3apg and 1.6spg.

   #10. Ed Davis (6'10''-F-89, graduated '10, plays pro in the NBA) helped Brooklyn Nets win their game against the Phoenix Suns 111-103 in the NBA on Sunday night. Davis scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. This year Davis averages 5.6ppg and 8.3rpg in 34 games.
