Oregon high school basketball has been down in recent years, but don't tell that to the Jefferson Democrats, who are still producing Division I talent on a regular basis. In the class of 2018, Jefferson's Kamaka Hepa established himself as the state's best basketball prospect and committed to Texas. This year's top billing belongs to teammate Marcus Tsohonis (6'5''-G), a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard. On Tuesday, the dynamic scorer put an end to his recruitment, committing to the Washington Huskies over Arizona State, USC and Washington State. Fresh off an official visit to Seattle, Tsohonis said it was a solid trip, coupled with his friendships and comfort built through his time playing AAU for Seattle Rotary, that solidified his choice. "The academics was definitely a big part of my decision," he said. "When I play in Seattle, I just feel at home. Playing with those guys, I got the vibe that it was home. It's what I like. I played for Seattle Rotary, so I was around Seattle guys in the Seattle area. That felt like home." Despite his status as one of the top combo guards on the West Coast, Tsohonis didn't hold offers from either the Oregon Ducks or Oregon State Beavers, but indicated he has no hard feelings. "I don't take it personally," he said. "It's how they view me. I like how Washington believed in me and wanted me to come there. I have no hate against Oregon and Oregon State." As a junior, Tsohonis was named the PIL player of the year, averaging 24.1 points, 7.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. He plans to play a combo guard role at Washington, developing as an effective player at both the point and shooting guard positions.

Kansas State guard Barry Brown (6'3''-G-96) didn't need any last-minute heroics this time. Brown scored 25 points as Kansas State beat the 20th-ranked Sooners 74-61 on Wednesday night. Brown, coming off his first Big 12 player of the week honor, is averaging 25.7 points during the Wildcats' three-game win streak. "Obviously, Barry's playing at a...   [read more]

In the first-ever men's basketball game between UVa and Virginia Tech when both schools were ranked in the Top Ten, the #4 Cavaliers came away with a dominating 81-59 victory against the #9 Hokies on Tuesday night at John Paul Jones Arena. UVa (16-0, 4-0 ACC) made 10-of-14 three-point tries in the 1st half, and jumped out to a 44-22 lead. The Hokies (14-2, 3-1 ACC) were never able to get closer than 14 points in the 2nd half. Northern Kentucky ran a football play on a basketball court - 6 days ago
Courtesy of cbssports.com Norse coach John Brannen explains the inspiration behind the play and why NKU ran it when it did. Northern Kentucky athlete Dantez Walton scooped up the ball from the official to set the play in motion, and four teammates -- all scattered unevenly about the baseline, with one on his left and three on his right -- began trotting down the floor as if Wilson had just belted out "hut hut!" and was masterminding a hurry-up offense   [read more]
