Oregon high school basketball has been down in recent years, but don't tell that to the Jefferson Democrats, who are still producing Division I talent on a regular basis. In the class of 2018, Jefferson's Kamaka Hepa established himself as the state's best basketball prospect and committed to Texas. This year's top billing belongs to teammate Marcus Tsohonis (6'5''-G), a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard. On Tuesday, the dynamic scorer put an end to his recruitment, committing to the Washington Huskies over Arizona State, USC and Washington State. Fresh off an official visit to Seattle, Tsohonis said it was a solid trip, coupled with his friendships and comfort built through his time playing AAU for Seattle Rotary, that solidified his choice. "The academics was definitely a big part of my decision," he said. "When I play in Seattle, I just feel at home. Playing with those guys, I got the vibe that it was home. It's what I like. I played for Seattle Rotary, so I was around Seattle guys in the Seattle area. That felt like home." Despite his status as one of the top combo guards on the West Coast, Tsohonis didn't hold offers from either the Oregon Ducks or Oregon State Beavers, but indicated he has no hard feelings. "I don't take it personally," he said. "It's how they view me. I like how Washington believed in me and wanted me to come there. I have no hate against Oregon and Oregon State." As a junior, Tsohonis was named the PIL player of the year, averaging 24.1 points, 7.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. He plans to play a combo guard role at Washington, developing as an effective player at both the point and shooting guard positions.

Marquette Uses Late Run to Get By Presbyterian - 2 hours ago
Milwaukee, WI - Marquette welcomed Presbyterian to the Fiserv Forum on Saturday afternoon hoping to get well after suffering through a lopsided mid-week loss to Indiana when the Hoosiers outplayed the Golden Eagles from tipoff to buzzer. But as the game wound its way into the middle minutes of the second half, Presbyterian held a 43-37 lead and the sluggish Golden Eagles looked to be in trouble. "There was enormous game pressure, we were down five, down six in the second half and I felt l...   [read more]

No. 7 North Carolina beats Tennessee Tech 108-58 - 1 day ago
The ball came Seventh Woods (6'2''-G-98)' way in transition and he didn't hesitate. The North Carolina junior immediately flipped the ball behind his back to Cameron Johnson (6'9''-G-96) for a corner 3-pointer, one of several blowout-producing baskets for the seventh-ranked Tar Heels after halftime in Friday night's 108-58 win against Tennessee Tech. It was part of an encouraging night for UNC (4-0) at the point, where Woods and freshman starter Coby White need to develop into reliable te...   [read more]
Michigan Pounds Villanova - 2 days ago
Courtesy of cbssports.com A both-teams-ranked rematch of the national title game was supposed to give college basketball something to talk about. And it did. Boy, did it ever. We're going to be peppered all season long with shocking results. Come the first weekend of next April, I doubt more than five final scores will stand beside Michigan 73, Villanova 46 - at Villanova - in terms of shock value   [read more]
