Keonte Kennedy's commitment gives Xavier backcourt depth - Jun 9, 2018

Xavier kept its commitment from three-star guard Keonte Kennedy (6'5''-G) as he pledged to the Musketeers for a second, and final, time on Friday. The 6-foot-4 Kennedy was originally committed and signed to Xavier back in November, but he opted to open up his recruitment in late April when former head coach Chris Mack left for Louisville. Now re-committed for next season, Kennedy gives the Musketeers a badly-needed perimeter shooting threat on its perimeter to go with Quentin Goodin and Paul Scruggs. Joining six new players on the roster next season, new head coach Travis Steele was able to keep the original three-man recruiting class that Xavier had under Mack while also successfully recruiting three grad transfers in Columbia's Kyle Castlin, San Jose State's Ryan Welage and Ferris State's Zach Hankins. Hankins and Welage are expected to receive heavy minutes in the frontcourt while Castlin provides a former double-figure scorer from the Ivy League. Considering that Xavier lost its top five players from last season's No. 1 seed, and this is a strong recruiting effort from Steele to fill out a depleted roster in only a few months' time. With so many new guys stepping into starting roles, and basically an entirely new team trying to learn how to play together, Xavier is going to be one of the more fascinating teams to track in the crowded Big East race.

Marquette Uses Late Run to Get By Presbyterian - 2 hours ago
Milwaukee, WI - Marquette welcomed Presbyterian to the Fiserv Forum on Saturday afternoon hoping to get well after suffering through a lopsided mid-week loss to Indiana when the Hoosiers outplayed the Golden Eagles from tipoff to buzzer. But as the game wound its way into the middle minutes of the second half, Presbyterian held a 43-37 lead and the sluggish Golden Eagles looked to be in trouble. "There was enormous game pressure, we were down five, down six in the second half and I felt l...   [read more]

No. 7 North Carolina beats Tennessee Tech 108-58 - 1 day ago
The ball came Seventh Woods (6'2''-G-98)' way in transition and he didn't hesitate. The North Carolina junior immediately flipped the ball behind his back to Cameron Johnson (6'9''-G-96) for a corner 3-pointer, one of several blowout-producing baskets for the seventh-ranked Tar Heels after halftime in Friday night's 108-58 win against Tennessee Tech. It was part of an encouraging night for UNC (4-0) at the point, where Woods and freshman starter Coby White need to develop into reliable te...   [read more]
Michigan Pounds Villanova - 2 days ago
Courtesy of cbssports.com A both-teams-ranked rematch of the national title game was supposed to give college basketball something to talk about. And it did. Boy, did it ever. We're going to be peppered all season long with shocking results. Come the first weekend of next April, I doubt more than five final scores will stand beside Michigan 73, Villanova 46 - at Villanova - in terms of shock value   [read more]
