The Island Storm has been eliminated from playoff contention. Bryce Washington (6'6''-F-96, college: La-Lafayette) hit a jumper at the buzzer Thursday to give the host Saint John Riptide a 84-83 victory over the Storm in National Basketball League of Canada regular season play. Washington had game highs of 24 points and 21 rebounds while Terry Maston (6'8''-F-95, college: Baylor) contributed 19 points and 11 boards. Alex Campbell (6'2''-G-93, college: Windsor) had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the Storm while Terrell Carter II (6'10''-C, college: Fresno St., agency: Haylett Sports) II had 13 points and six rebounds. Tyree White (6'4''-G/F, college: Queens, NY) chipped in 11 assists, eight points, four assists and three steals. The Riptide, which held 24-18, 46-34 and 65-62 quarter leads, improved to 17-21 while the Storm is 10-25. The Storm plays the Edge in St. John's, N.L., tonight and Sunday.

KYLE JOHNSON St. John's Edge (NBL Canada) landed 30-year old British international guard Kyle Johnson (195-88kg-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Blacktop Management). The London Lightning lost to the KW Titans 109-93 after the Titans went out to an early lead that had the Lightning playing catchup.
