The Saint John Riptide created more distance in the Atlantic Division standings between themselves and the Island Storm, downing the home team 100-95 in an Islander Day matinee. The Riptide handed the Storm their fifth straight defeat to move 4 games ahead of their nearest Atlantic rival. Saint John improved to 12-18 while the Storm fell to 5-20. Frank Bartley IV (6'3''-G-94, college: La-Lafayette), who earlier in the day was named the National Basketball League of Canada player of the week, kept it going Sunday afternoon scoring 28 points to pace the 'Tide. T.J. Maston added 23 to go along with 11 boards, and Brent Arrington (6'3''-G-92, college: Morehead St.) chipped in with 13 points. Bryce Washington (6'6''-F-96, college: La-Lafayette) continued to be a force with 13 points and 14 rebounds while Kemy Osse (6'1''-PG-93, college: UALR) had another strong game off the bench with 11. Terrell Carter III led the way for the Storm with 20, while Sampson Carter (6'8''-F-90, college: Massachusetts) added 19. Saint John held a 73-62 advantage heading into the final quarter courtesy of some timely three balls by Arrington and Bartley. The Riptide went into the break with a 41-38 halftime lead after trailing 22-20 after one period of action at the Eastlink Centre. The Tide shot 45 per cent from the field, including connecting on 10-21 attempts from beyond the three-point arc. They also sank 28-31 free throws. The Storm shot 43 per cent from the field, sinking 9-29 from the land beyond and hitting 22-29 free throws. Saint John has six days to prepare for its next game, a date with the Cape Breton Highlanders at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harbour Station. The game is the first of five straight home games.

Edge Fight Until Final Buzzer, But Drop Game 4 as Moncton Magic Claim Title - 5 days ago
The St. John's Edge played until the final buzzer on Thursday night, giving the 4,000 plus fans at Mile One Centre every bit of what they had left. Unfortunately, it was not to be as the Moncton Magic claimed the title of Champions for the 2018-19 NBL Canada season, winning by a score of 130-120. The Edge had a big hill to climb in this series as they were down 3 games to none coming into this one. They would have reinforcements for this game as the team activated Shaquille Keith just a d...   [read more]

The St. John's Edge were back at home and looking to get back into the series against the Moncton Magic on Monday night at Mile One Centre. The Edge fought hard all game and held the lead going into the fourth quarter, but Moncton would go on a 14-0 run to start the quarter and complete the comeback, taking Game 3 by a score of 103-93. It has been a tough couple of games leading into this one for the Edge. They were victims of a Moncton comeback in Game 1 and then had the same result in G...   [read more]
