The Halifax Hurricanes blew into Charlottetown and left the Island Storm in their wake. The Hurricanes led by 26 at halftime, shot at nearly a 50 per cent clip and, more importantly, rested their starters as every player got some floor time in a 101-83 NBL Canada victory Saturday night at the Eastlink Centre. Halifax (14-12) led by as much as 36 points in posting its third consecutive victory. The Hurricanes moved into a tie with the Cape Breton Highlanders for second place in the Atlantic Division. Mike Poole (6'5''-F-92, college: Iona) paced Halifax with 15 points in limited action. Chadrack Lufile had 14 points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes of play and Terry Thomas (6'4''-G/F-91, college: Ottawa), Joel Kindred (6'4''-G-91, college: St.Augustine) and Meshack Lufile (6'8''-F-92, college: Cape Breton) each scored 11 points. The Hurricanes dominated in every facet of the game. They shot 48.1 per cent from the floor and were better than 50 per cent in the first half. They limited the Storm to just 29 per cent shooting and 17 per cent from beyond the arc. Halifax also controlled the glass and held a 62-48 advantage in rebounds. The Hurricanes' bench contributed with 52 points to give the starters a break. No Halifax starter played more than 24 minutes, getting some rest ahead of a home game against St. John's on Sunday afternoon. The Edge (15-8) visit Scotiabank Centre for a matinee at 2 p.m. Guillaume Boucard (6'6''-F-90, college: Carleton) led the Storm (5-18) with 21 points.

The Halifax Hurricanes didn't win on Saturday but they'll return to Scotiabank Centre with home-court advantage. The Moncton Magic defeated the Hurricanes 96-88 in Game 2 of their Atlantic Division final at Avenir Centre in Moncton.
