The Halifax Hurricanes overcame their second-half struggles and cruised to a 96-88 win over the visiting Saint John Riptide at Scotiabank Centre on Thursday night. The Hurricanes welcomed three new players to the rotation for the game. Returning for another run is Rhamel Brown (6'7''-F-92, college: Manhattan), who provided steady defence and a post presence last season. New Hurricanes Gabe Freeman (6'6''-F-85, agency: Haylett Sports) and Robinson Odoch Opong also joined the team. National Basketball League of Canada veteran Freeman was signed earlier this week and brings scoring punch at the forward position to the Hurricanes. Thursday's game saw numerous lead changes and ties and stayed close through three quarters. It was the Hurricane's bench that took control of the game. Led by Jordan Washington (6'8''-F-93, college: Iona, agency: Interperformances) who had a team-high 16, Malcolm Duvivier (6'3''-G-95, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) and Kedar Edwards (6'5''-F-93, college: Tenn-Martin), the bench crew scored 48 points on the night. Freeman got a feel for the new offence on his way to 15 points. The Hurricanes head to Saint John for a rematch on Sunday, Nov 25. You can catch that game via live stream starting at 2 p.m. The Hurricanes come back home again on Saturday, Dec. 1. That night, they'll host the KW Titans at 7 p.m. at Scotiabank Centre.

Magic Comes out on Top in OT Thriller - 1 day ago
Finishing on a high note. The Moncton Magic finish the regular season with a historic 27-13 record. There are many ups and downs experienced through a 40-game season, including player turnover, injuries, a lack of team chemistry, etc. In spite of that, the Magic have remained a motivated tightknit group that has been professional, resilient, and successful. After running through the KW Titans on March 23rd, the Moncton Magic follow it up by coming back and beating the Windsor Express in O...   [read more]

The Halifax Hurricanes controlled all four quarters of Wednesday night's blowout win over the Windsor Express at Scotiabank Centre, cruising to a 144-77 victory. Halifax caught fire in the second quarter, racking up 44 points in the frame, then limited the Express to just 13 points in the third.
