Island Storm (NBL Canada) landed 27-year old American guard Akeem Ellis (198-90, college: Coppin State). He started the season at Lourdes in French NM1 league. In 10 games he averaged 9.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.5apg this season. The last season Ellis played at Cheshire Phoenix in British BBL where in 36 games he had very impressive stats: 17.1ppg, 5.6rpg and 3.6apg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-British BBL 2nd Team.
In 2013 (a year after he left the college) Ellis was drafted by Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League) in sixth round (101th overall).
The former Coppin State standoutis in his fifth season in pro basketball.
Ellis' team was regular season runner-up in MEAC in 2011.
He has played previously for another Canadian team Orangeville A's.
Let's have closer look into Ellis' outlook: Akeem is a very versatile, and coachable wing with great shooting, passing and ball handling skills. Team oriented and very aggressive rebounder. Has ability to be very strong around the rim and can defend multiple positions.
