Jamar Coke
Incredible night of games in the championship triple-header with each going down to the wire. Thank you to everyone who made the atmosphere awesome.
In the opening game of the night, Parlez De Nous completed their undefeated run in the Mondays Rec. Division picking up the chip' over United Nations. Moussa Taguina (6'0''-G) led the way with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. For the fist time in NBBL history we have CO-MVPs. In was simply too tough to choose between Jamar Coke (5'11''-PG) (21 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 5 asp, 3.3 spg) and Moussa Taguina (24.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2 asp, 2.8 spg) who were both outstanding for their Parlez De Nous team leading them to an undefeated season.
In a back and forth battle that went into overtime, the Grizzlies were able to defeat the undefeated Parlez De Nous 77-76 and stop them from doubling up on the night. Zach Angelini (6'3''-SG-92) was clutch all game for his team leading them to victory. Angelini finished with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
The Advanced Division was incredibly tough to select an MVP thanks to brilliant play from several players. The NBBL committee kept circling back to Justin Andrew (6'0''-PG) 27.7 ppg, 6 rpg, 3.7 asp, 1.5 asp) from Made Men who put forth several sublime performances this season. Groom for Men and Flint Tropics squared off in a (1) vs (2) matchup in a thriller that went down to the wire with Groom for Men crowning their undefeated season with the win 63-56. Neil Santos (5'7''-PG) recorded 21 points. 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Neil Santos (16.1 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.4 asp, 1.7 spg) was the engine that made the Groom For Men team go and was instrumental in them going undefeated this season. This is Neil's second NBBL MVP honours. We still have one final game this season which will be played between two undefeated teams. The Monday Rec. Champs Parlez De Nous vs. the Wednesday Rec. Champs Groom For Men. Both of these teams are yet to lose a game all season. Talk has been swirling around the league about which team is better. We finally get the chance to see the two teams battle it out this upcoming Monday July 31st at 8:30PM at Hillfield Strathallan College in a matchup that is being called the seasons "Super Cup."
