905's capture NBBL title - Jul 22, 2015

After dropping their season opener to BSN by 16 points, the Nine-O-Five's went undefeated the rest of the season to capture the NBBL Title 93-86 over Team On Point. The 905's shot the ball incredibly well from beyond the arc to open the game as they jumped out to take control of the game. The 905's led 51-40 going into the half. Steady play from team captain Tyrell Vernon (6'1''-G-88) was vital in this contest. Arun Kumar (6'0''-G) was the x-factor knocking down seven of the teams 11 three-pointers in the game. Tyrel Edwards (6'5''-F-91) finished with 24 points and was electric on the offensive end and played great defence for his 905's. Team On Point were able to stave off the early onslaught from the 905's with some timely three-point baskets from Alex Johnson. Johnson would finish with 17 points. Denham Brown (6'6''-F-83, college: Connecticut) did all he could in this contest to will his team to victory tallying 30 points in this battle. Ultimately, the 905's proved to be too much in this contest. On Point were without Junior Cadougan who was on Canada National Team duties as the team prepares for the Pan Am games. The NBBL Title wasn't the only hardware that Tyrone Watson (6'5''-F-90, college: N.Mexico St.) picked up last night. Watson wins back-to-back Elite Division MVP's with a season more impressive than the last as he carried the 905's to an NBBL Title. Watson was also named the NBBL Finals MVP after tallying 22 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals.
