OMRI CASSPI

Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) waived 30-year old Israeli ex-international small forward Omri Casspi (206-102kg-88). In 36 NBA games he recorded 6.3ppg and 3.2rpg this season.
The last season Casspi played at the Warriors where in 53 NBA games he averaged 5.7ppg and 3.8rpg.
In 2009 Casspi was drafted by Sacramento Kings in first round (23rd overall).
Among other achievements he received Eurobasket.com All-European Championships 3rd Team award back in 2015.
Casspi was also a member of Israeli international program for some years. He played for Israeli Senior National Team between 2008 and 2017 and previously for U20 National Team in 2007.
Casspi represented Israel at the European Championships two years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 14.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 44.7%, 3PT: 29.4%, FT: 63.9%.
Casspi has played previously professionally in other NBA teams (New Orleans Pelicans, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves) and Israel (Galil Gilboa and Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv).
His game is described as: (by Stevan Petrovic for NBADraft.net in 2009)
Very long and athletic player with excellent frame, plus leaping and slashing ability ... Its very difficult to guard him due to his size and ability to play inside/outside ... Casspi will beat bigger opponents off the dribble due to his quickness and take advantage of smaller opponents by posting them up inside.
Has to work to improve his shooting mechanics and be a more consistent outside shooter ... Not good at taking his defenders off the dribble and creating his own shots

Suns fire Igor Kokoskov after one year - 3 days ago
One year was apparently enough time for the Suns to decide Igor Kokoskov was not long-term coach they wanted. Phoenix has fired Kokoskov -- the first European-born head coach in NBA history -- early Tuesday morning, two weeks after he finished his first season as an NBA head coach. The former Utah assistant and Slovenian national team coach guided a Suns team that finished with the worst record in the Western Conference (19-63). 'After extensive evaluation, I determined it is best to move...   [read more]
