Derrick Rose
It's a nice story about D-Rose scoring 50 but lets keep a few things in mind. Lots of players have hit 50 including Sharif Abdur Rahim, Willie Burton, Dana Barros, Tony Delk, Kelly Tripucka and most interestingly Brandon Roy. After the game Rose said that most players would have quit if they went through what he's gone through. Lets look at that, two routine knee surgeries doesn't even make the list. Look at players like Amare Stoudamire, Tracy McGrady, Anfrenee Hardaway to name just a few. Here in Minnesota we had Brandon Roy who also scored 50 in a game once and was on his way to an all time great career until a series of knee injuries derailed his career. His knees were soo bad one was bone on bone, no cartledge was left in the knee at all. Rose had a knee surgery, refused to return after the injury and then played like a shell of his former self and suffered a second minor knee injury. Derrick Rose lived a sheltered life and had never had to overcome a serious injury and his response to that was childish and immature, he threw away an MVP career because mentally he couldn't deal with it. It's bs guys like Brandon Roy, Micheal Jordan or Kobe Bryant late in their career are battling bad knees and leg injuries and Rose is as fast as he has ever been, almost as explosive and claims most other players would have quit. Its insulting to guys grinding out careers and guys like Brandon Roy who had a hall of fame career taken from him. Spare me the self inflicted pity party. Rose was blessed with excellent physical skills but lacking the mental makeup to ever reach his potential. It's been 8 years since Rose was his MVP self and the only thing stopping his return to that level was his own mental weakness in overcoming obstacles. Derrick Rose wants to feel sorry for himself for what might have been needs to only look in the mirror. Derrick Rose (6'3''-G-88, college: Memphis)

The Wizards are set to have Dwight Howard (6'11''-C-85) back for a second year, as the veteran center informed the team of his plans to exercise the $5.6 million player option in his contract for the 2019-20 season, NBC Sports Washington has confirmed. Howard, 33, indicated to Wizards brass in his exit meeting last week he was likely to opt in to the second and final year of his deal, but there was some thought he would wait until closer to the June 29 deadline. The reason why is Howard's...   [read more]
