Gary Harris
Gary Harris (6'4''-G-94, college: Michigan St.) will be eligible for a rookie contract extension this summer and the Nuggets don't want to waste any time locking him up long-term, Christopher Dempsey of Altitude Sports relays. 'Gary's going to be here for a long, long time,' GM Tim Connelly said. 'He's a guy that kind of embodies everything that we're trying to be, both as a player and as a person,' Connelly said. 'Whether it's this summer or whether it's the following summer, he's going to be here for a very long time.' Harris, who was selected with the No.19 overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, is averaging career highs in points, assists, and rebounds per game as well as 3-point percentage and overall field goal percentage this season. He's become a core member of the Nuggets, someone who can contribute to the team's goal of making the playoffs and competing for the title down the road. Connelly always envisioned Harris taking the necessary steps to elevate his game. 'Sometimes you have to go with your gut - 6-4, long arm, fast-twitch athlete with a nose for the ball defensively who can make shots and cares,' Connelly said. 'I think you can get too lost at times in analytics and too lost at times not seeing the forest for the trees. Now, he's taken a monstrous step.'

Raptors gauging interest in Norman Powell trade ahead of NBA Draft: report - 7 hours ago
Nick Nurse had to field plenty of questions when he was introduced as the Toronto Raptors' head coach, ranging anywhere from how he celebrated the promotion to how he plans on utilizing the roster in 2018-19. Before long, Nurse was asked about the future of a Raptor who turned in a disappointing season in 2017-18: 'Can Norman Powell (6'4''-G-93, college: UCLA) be salvaged?' It's an interesting question to ask of a player who had just signed a four-year, $42 million extension at the start...   [read more]

Kawhi Leonard To Tell Rival Teams He Plans To Sign In Los Angeles - 7 hours ago
Kawhi Leonard (6'7''-F-91, college: San Diego St.) has privately maintained that he no longer wants to play for the San Antonio Spurs and will eventually alert rival teams that his intentions are to sign in Los Angeles when he becomes a free agent in 2019. Leonard would prefer to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Spurs are unlikely to be motivated to trade Leonard to the Lakers. Leonard had told confidants that he did not want to sit down with Popovich an...   [read more]
