A new era of minor league basketball began on April 30 as six teams and three games opened play in the new North American Basketball League. The Atlanta Show will go down in history as the winner of the first-ever NABL game played.

Bernard Parks (6'3''-F, college: Point, GA) led a balanced attack scoring a game-high 23 points for Atlanta. His teammate Brain Rutledge (6'0''-PG) added 19 points as the Show cruised to a 113-78 victory over the Music City Kings. CJ Turman (15 poiints) and Fred Johnson (8 points) provided plenty of offense, which included a 34-point second quarter.

Quintin Dailey (6'3''-G-90, college: E.Michigan) led Music City with 19 points while Mark Gray (6'6''-F) scored 17 in their NABL home debut.

The game in Austin between the visiting Shreveport-Bossier Flight and Austin Knights was not as competitive. The host team justed on the Flight from the opening tip on their way to a 131-95 win. The game was never in doubt - after taking a 34-19 lead into the second quarter Austin continued to score and led 63-39 at halftime. No player statistics were available at press time.

The third matchup of opening day was also won by the home team as Miss-Lou Warriors downed DFW United 109-84.

Play resumes next weekend and will include the four NABL East teams Bradenton GymRatz, Savannah Cavaliers as well as the Dallas Hoyas and San Antonio Lions in action.
