Just like the ABA and the NBA merger in 1976, this league is currently in discussions to expand and merge 2 leagues to continue with the mission and vision of having a more stable, more competitive, more reliable, and more professional league on and off the floor. Both parties (although have not officially signed merger) suggested the combined league will be a professional platform while they continue utilizing all programs already established within the CBDL as well as utilizing the certified D-League officials which will keep the integrity of the game and enhancement of building professional officials as well as the players under the NBA structure. "It is important to all of us to assist in finding a future for these potential players and to help guide and establish them on a professional platform to compete" said CEO Benjamin Mireles. "However, the "re-branding" of this league is also an important reason for making the change while putting it under a new Commissioner to oversee the everyday operations of the league and allowing me to focus more on my own team". The merger would include changing the team and league websites, Facebook, all social media outlets for the CBDL. But, this should be a start of something special for the players, owners, and coaches of this league because of the value which it will bring to the table. There is still discussions on amount of games (20-30), and all locations of all the teams but so far we know there would be between 16-18 teams across 8 states in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida building this league into a south central and southeast regional league. And there are other teams currently negotiating opportunity in Texas, Los Angelas, and North Carolina. "We want the best for our players and what could bring out the best in our owners within this league" said current owner Paul Parker. "Im a former player and Im tired of all those leagues and teams who portray themselves to be real teams and give a false sense of hope for players who are let down year after year and do not go anywhere as I have seen it for myself".
The two organizations will look to come together as one solid force to build a "FEEDER LEAGUE" for the NBA D-League and especially for higher level organizations Internationally. With the leagues direction, they are looking to build this organization within the first 2 years. They do not want to have more than 25-30 teams established within the league and are looking for organizations who are looking to be in this industry for years to come and look to focus on really taking the time out to train and develop these players. It also wants to have many, if not all, team owners who are looking to build or renovate an old facility in their areas to make into their own 500-1000 seat basketball venue. "We know this takes time to build something like our vision and know that with our training and development program in place for all teams to use, each player within this league will have an equal chance of developing" said CEO Mireles."Teams would have more stability, value, and security with their own good facility, training and development program, solid players looking to get better, get some solid exposure, and bring in a fan base which is looking to watch really high level and professional basketball at its best under NBA rules with a great selection of "QUALITY" players." Stay tuned as they plan on having this agreement complete as soon as Wednesday and will keep you updated as soon as soon as we hear something which is confirmed.
