Top Miami Dade College alumni playing currently pro basketball

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top former Sharks players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Trevor Mbakwe (6'10''-C/F-89, played in 2008-09, plays pro in Japan) could not help Osaka Evessa (15-25) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the fourth-placed Osaka Evessa (15-25) was crushed 100-72 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) Toyama Grouses in the West group. Mbakwe had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 29 minutes. This year Mbakwe averages 8.4ppg, 7.0rpg and 2.1apg in seven games he played so far. He is a naturalized Nigerian.

   #2. Devin Brooks (6'1''-G-92, played in 2010-11, plays in Slovakia) was the major contributor in a Rieker KN's victory against the closely-ranked Handlova (9-16) 89-72 in the Slovakian SBL last Wednesday. Brooks recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 9 assists and 3 steals (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line). MBK Rieker Com Therm Komarno (12-13) is placed fifth in the SBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Brooks has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 17.8ppg, 10.6rpg, 6.1apg and 2.4spg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #3. Maurice Kemp (6'8''-PF-91, played in 2010-11, currently in Spain) was not able to help Montakit Fuenlabrada in their game against Lietkabelis (5-9) in the Basketball Champions League. He scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. But the eighth-placed Montakit Fuenlabrada (4-10) lost 78-85 in Panevezys to the higher-ranked (#5) Lietkabelis in the group C of Basketball Champions League. It was Montakit Fuenlabrada's tenth consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the Basketball Champions League. It's Kemp's first season with the team. Kemp has relatively good stats this year 11.4ppg and 6.2rpg in five games.

   #4. Christian Pizarro (G-95, graduated '15, plays pro in Puerto Rico) contributed to a 1-point Capitanes de Arecibo's victory against the closely-ranked Leones (0-3) 94-93 in the Liga Americas in Sunday night's game. Pizarro scored 8 points and added 9 passes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Capitanes de Arecibo (2-1) is placed second in the Liga Americas. The Regular Season already ended in the Liga Americas. This season Pizarro averages 5.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 4.0apg and 2.5spg.

   #5. Darnell Dodson (6'7''-F-89, played in 2008-09, plays in Argentina) led Comunicaciones to a victory over the 17th-ranked Bahia Basket (4-10) crushing them 90-63 in the Argentinian La Liga last Tuesday. He was MVP of the game. Dodson scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. Comunicaciones Mercedes (7-7) is placed 12th in the La Liga. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Dodson averages 9.0ppg and 5.6rpg in eight games.

   #6. Elio Corazza (6'4''-PG-89, graduated '10, currently in Brazil) was not able to secure a victory for SESI-SP/Franca Basquete Sao Paulo in their game against Flamengo in the Brazilian NBB. Corazza scored only 4 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 9 assists. His team was defeated 79-74. This season Corazza averages 6.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 4.9apg.

   #7. Julien Sargent (6'11''-C-91, played in 2009-10, plays pro in Spain) couldn't help Rivas (8-10) in their last game. Despite his good performance the ninth-placed Rivas was crushed 87-65 in Las Palmas by the leading Gran Canaria II in the Group B. Sargent was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. This year Sargent averages 8.4ppg and 8.5rpg in 17 games.

   #8. Joe Mvuezolo (6'6''-F-96, played in 2014-16, plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Surrey Scorchers in their game against London CR in the British BBL. Mvuezolo scored 6 points. It was his first game for Surrey Scorchers this season. His team was crushed by 21 points 94-73.
