Wade Smith
Wade Smith has been named as an assistant men's basketball coach at Panola College. Smith comes to PC with an impressive coaching background at both the prep and college level. 'Wade has been apart of some very successful and respected coaching staffs at the Division One Level, where he helped in every area of a program. He brings experience as a head coach from IMG one of the top prep schools in the country, and has national recruiting ties at the prep level. Wade is a tremendous addition to our program, and we are thrilled to add a coach with his resume and experience.' In addition to successful prep stints as an Assistant Coach at Vermont Academy and Head Varsity Coach at IMG Academy, Smith brings significant college coaching experience to Panola, having served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Miami University from 2015 - 2017 and in support staff roles at Georgetown from 2013 - 2015. Before returning to his alma mater in 2015, Smith served as both a Graduate Assistant and the Assistant Video Coordinator for Coach John Thompson III at Georgetown from 2013 - 2015. During his time on the sidelines, Smith has earned a reputation for developing players. Several of Smith's former players are currently playing throughout the college ranks as well as professionally, including Bruce Brown of the Detroit Pistons. While working alongside Head Skills Trainer Rashad Phillips at IMG Academy, Smith was able to be a part of IMG's NBA pre-draft training while also training players of all ages and skill levels from across the world during IMG's renowned summer camps. Smith also worked at Impact Basketball in 2012 where he coached and trained both college and professional players. Smith has several years of experience working camps and clinics of all levels including those for Nike, Under Armor, former NBA guard Kevin Martin and summer camps for over ten division one programs. Smith served as Camp Director during his time at Miami University and aided in the preparation of the John Thompson III Basketball camps while at Georgetown.
