'Wade has been apart of some very successful and respected coaching staffs at the Division One Level, where he helped in every area of a program. He brings experience as a head coach from IMG one of the top prep schools in the country, and has national recruiting ties at the prep level. Wade is a tremendous addition to our program, and we are thrilled to add a coach with his resume and experience.' In addition to successful prep stints as an Assistant Coach at Vermont Academy and Head Varsity Coach at IMG Academy, Smith brings significant college coaching experience to Panola, having served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Miami University from 2015 - 2017 and in support staff roles at Georgetown from 2013 - 2015. During his time on the sidelines, Smith has earned a reputation for developing players. Several of Smith's former players are currently playing throughout the college ranks as well as professionally, including Bruce Brown of the Detroit Pistons. Smith also worked at Impact Basketball in 2012 where he coached and trained both college and professional players.
