Obinna Agu
Barking Abbey forward Obinna Agu (6'6''-F-97) has signed to Western Wyoming College for the 2017-18 season. The 6'5 Agu has completed 3 years at BA after joining from Newham Youngbloods, in particular taking a leadership role during the 2016-17 season whilst helping BA to an undefeated season in the EABL and the National League Division 2 league and playoff title. 'I'm delighted for Obi, that he's able to continue his basketball career moving onto the US,' BA Head Coach Lloyd Gardner commented. 'There hasn't been many players that have maximised their ability coming through our programme the way Obi has. He's been one of the hardest workers that we've had in his three years with us.' Agu becomes the third BA player who will be on the Mustangs' roster for this season, joining Amin Adamu and alumnus Calvin Nevill-Kintu. 'I think that moving onto a place like Western Wyoming, where he'll be able to continue alongside two other Barking Abbey students is truly deserved for a player like Obi,' added Gardner. 'On the floor he's a very versatile athlete and I think he'll be able to help Western Wyoming, not just with his skill set and offensive and defensive ability, but through his leadership. 'He was a major factor in our success last year in both the EABL and National League season because of the leadership he was able to provide within games and in practice, he was a role model to some of the other players within our programme.' Agu averaged 9.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in the EABL last season and represented the Great Britain Under-20s at the Division B European Championships this summer - his first call up to a National Team - where he helped them to Division A promotion.

Reinert named Head Basketball Coach at CSI - 24 days ago
The College of Southern Idaho welcomed its new Head Men's Basketball Coach Jeff Reinert Tuesday at a press conference. Reinert is no stranger to Golden Eagle Basketball, having coached against CSI from 1994-2002 while he was the head men's coach at Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University). 'I'm really excited to be here,' said Reinert. 'This is something I never envisioned happening 20 years ago when I was competing against CSI. With the tradition and legacy here, it's an ho...   [read more]
