ECBL to add Elam Ending for 13th Game in 2019 - Sep 1, 2018

The Elam Ending will be coming to the ECBL in 2019. Teams schedule 13 games throughout the season with 10 games in conference that go towards playoffs seeding and 3 out of conference that don't have any bearing on the playoff standings. Teams will use the 3rd non conference game to play under the Elam Ending rules. These games will be played under normal game rules until the last three minutes of the 4th quarter, at that point the next dead ball will signal the beginning of the Elam Ending. The Target score will then be set to the leading teams score Plus 7 points, so if the score is 85-80 the target score will be 92. The game clock will then be shut off and the first team to 92 will win the game. This way all games using the Elam Ending will always end with a made basket and will cut out intentional fouling down the stretch of the game. The ECBL schedule will be out in early December and the league will also release the games that will be played under the Elam Ending Rules. ECBL Founder Chris Thomas and his team the PrimeTime Players played under the rules this summer in The Basketball Tournament and after seeing games played under the rules the ECBL owners voted to play selected non conference games under the rules for the 2019 season.
