We bring you last week's top performances from Canadians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Thomas Scrubb (198-91, college: Carleton, currently plays in Italy). He could not help Openjobmetis VA (9-7) in their last game. Despite Scrubb's very good performance Openjobmetis VA lost 73-78 on the road to the lower-ranked (#10) Germani BR. He was the top scorer with 31 points. Scrubb also added 8 rebounds in 38 minutes on the court. It was Openjobmetis VA's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Scrubb's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.7apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 41.9% and FT: 70.2% in 16 games he played so far. Scrubb has a dual citizenship: British and Canadian. He is currently a member of the Canadian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances, college: Carleton, currently plays in Spain). Doornekamp was the major contributor in a Valencia Basket's victory against the 12th-ranked Leche Rio Breogan (6-10) 77-65 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 20 minutes. Valencia Basket (9-7) is placed fifth in the Liga Endesa. This year Doornekamp averages: 5.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 42.1%, 3FGP: 46.5%(20-43) and FT: 90.9% in 17 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Dutch. Former Carleton University starter played for the Canadian national team in 2015.

   #3. The Canadian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Owen Klassen (208-91, college: Acadia, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). Klassen led his German team EnBW Ludwigsburg to a victory against the fifth-ranked Anwil (4-7) 87-74 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 18 rebounds. Klassen also added 3 blocks. MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg (3-8) is placed eighth in group A. There are only three games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Klassen's overall stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 5.9rpg, 2FGP: 54.0%, 3FGP: 11.1% and FT: 68.0%. He played for the Canadian national team two years ago.

Guard Philip Scrubb (191-92, college: Carleton, currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to Zenit's victory against the league leader CSKA (13-1) 93-86 in the VTB United League last Sunday. Scrubb recorded 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in 29 minutes. Zenit Sankt Petersburg (8-5) is placed fifth in the VTB United League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Scrubb has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 2.1rpg, 4.0apg and 1.2spg in 13 games. He has both Canadian and British nationalities. Scrubb is also Canadian national team player.

Former international swingman Jamal Murray (198-97, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA) led Denver Nuggets to a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers (9-39) crushing them 124-102 in the NBA on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Murray recorded 26 points (!!!) and added 5 passes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. The Denver Nuggets have a solid 31-14 record this season. Murray has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.8ppg, 4.5rpg and 4.9apg. Murray used to play for the Canadian national team four years ago.

   #6. Point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (198-98, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Los Angeles Clippers (25-21) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Los Angeles Clippers (25-21) were badly defeated 112-94 in Oakland by the Golden State Warriors. Gilgeous-Alexander was the second best scorer with 24 points. He also added made 5 passes and 3 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in 43 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Gilgeous-Alexander's third season in pro basketball. It was Clippers' fifth consecutive loss in a row. Gilgeous-Alexander has reliable stats this year: 9.8ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.9apg in 46 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Canadian senior team three years ago.

   #7. International point guard Kevin Pangos (185-93, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for FC Barcelona (11-8) in their last game. Despite Pangos' good performance FC Barcelona was badly defeated 99-83 in Tel-Aviv by the lower-ranked (#11) Maccabi T-A. He recorded 10 points in 16 minutes. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. This year Pangos' overall stats are: 7.2ppg, 1.2rpg and 3.0apg in 19 games. He is also Canadian national team player.

   #8. Point guard Kaza Kajami-Keane (185-94, also represented by Interperformances, college: Carleton, currently plays in Holland) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Rotterdam (4-15) crushing them 90-64 in the Dutch Eredivisie in Sunday night's game. Kajami-Keane scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 9 assists (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). Landstede Basketbal Zwolle (16-2) is placed second in the Eredivisie. This season Kajami-Keane has very high stats. He averages: 18.5ppg, 5.1rpg, 4.1apg and 3.0spg. Kajami-Keane plays currently for the Canadian national team.

   #9. Former international guard Daniel Mullings (189-91, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Finland) couldn't help Joensuun Kataja (9-8) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Joensuun Kataja lost in a double overtime (!!!) 121-128 in Salo to the leading Vilpas. Mullings had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 40 minutes. Mullings has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.6apg and 2.3spg in 14 games. He used to play for the Canadian national team four years ago.

Forward Kyle Wiltjer (208-92, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the fourth-ranked Limoges CSP Elite (0-3) 79-72 in the Eurocup on Tuesday night. Wiltjer scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Unicaja Malaga (2-1) is placed second in group G. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game is very crucial. Wiltjer averaged so far 11.2ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.4apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Canadian National Team roster.

   #11. Former U19 international swingman Trey Lyles (206-95, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jamal Murray and both played together in the last NBA game. Lyles contributed to an easy victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers crushing them 124-102. He recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in a mere 19 minutes. Lyles' stats this year are: 9.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg in 43 games. He used to play for the Canadian U19 national team six years ago.

   #12. Former international guard Andrew Wiggins (203-95, college: Kansas, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Minnesota Timberwolves (22-24) in their last game. Despite Wiggins' very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves were edged 116-113 in San Antonio by the Spurs. He scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 36 minutes. Wiggins has very impressive stats this year: 17.5ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.2apg in 42 games. He used to play for the Canadian national team back in 2015.

   #13. International forward Melvin Ejim (201-91, college: Iowa St., currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to a 2-point Unics Kazan's victory against the ninth-ranked Kalev/Cramo 76-74 in the VTB United League in Saturday night's game. Ejim recorded 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ejim's total stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.5spg. He is also Canadian national team player.

   #14. Former international power forward Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in China) couldn't help Sturgeons (18-15) in their last game. Despite Nicholson's very good performance Sturgeons lost 103-115 in Shenzhen to the higher-ranked (#3) Leopards. He was the top scorer with 32 points. Nicholson also added 8 rebounds in 40 minutes. Nicholson has very impressive stats this year: 28.2ppg, 9.6rpg and 1.8apg in 29 games. He used to play for the Canadian national team back in 2017.

   #15. International power forward Keanau Post (211-92, college: Missouri, currently plays in Lebanon) couldn't help Sagesse (1-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Post's very good performance the bottom-ranked Sagesse was crushed 99-66 at home by the second-ranked Champville. He recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Post also added 2 blocks and 3 steals. This season Post has very high stats. He averages: 15.9ppg, 10.1rpg, 2.0bpg and 1.1spg. Post is also in the roster of the Canadian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Canadian passport but never been selected to any of Canadian national teams:

   #1. Dejan Kravic (211-F/C-90, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in a Virtus Bologna's victory against the closely-ranked Alma TR (7-9) 82-74 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Kravic recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. Virtus Segafredo Bologna (9-7) is placed seventh in the Serie A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Kravic has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.2bpg. He has a dual citizenship: Serbian and Canadian.

   #2. Dylan Ennis (187-PG-91, agency: BeoBasket, college: Oregon, currently plays in EuroCup) led his Spanish team Andorra to a victory over the third-ranked Zenit (1-2) 80-71 in the Eurocup last Tuesday. Ennis was the best player in that game. He scored 19 points and added 3 assists. MoraBanc Andorra (3-0) is placed first in group H. So far his team won all three games in the Top 16. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Ennis averaged so far 11.9ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.6apg and 1.5spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Jamaican.

   #3. Nicholas Wiggins (198-SF-91, college: Z*Orangeville A's, currently plays in Argentina) could not help Argentino (1-7) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Wiggins' very good performance the bottom-ranked Argentino was defeated 108-93 on the road by the leading San Lorenzo. He scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Wiggins has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg and 4.3rpg.

   #4. Matthew Wright (193-G-91, college: St.Bonaventure, currently plays in Philippines) was the main contributor in Phoenix's victory against the league outsider TNT Ka Tropa (0-2) 93-84 in the Filipino PBA in Saturday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Wright recorded 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 32 minutes. Phoenix Fuel Masters (2-0) are placed second in the PBA. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Wright has very impressive stats this year: 20.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 4.5apg and 2.0spg in two games he played so far. He has both Canadian and Filipino nationalities.

   #5. Experienced Billy McNutt (203-C/F-85, currently plays in Luxembourg) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Larochette (4-13) crushing them 115-91 in the Luxembourg Total League in Wednesday night's game. McNutt was the best player in that game. He had a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 23 rebounds. McNutt also added 4 assists and 2 blocks in 38 minutes. BBC Etzella Ettelbruck (16-1) is placed first in the Total League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. McNutt is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Etzella's roster. He has very impressive stats this season: 23.4ppg, 11.5rpg, 2.1apg, 1.4bpg and 1.9spg in 16 games.

   #6. Aleksandar Danilovic (202-F-93, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to Ovarense's victory against the ninth-ranked Galitos-Barreiro 87-74 in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night. Danilovic scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He averaged so far 13.2ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.1apg. Danilovic also holds two passports: Canadian and Serbian.

   #7. Keith Omoerah (194-G-92, college: Manitoba, currently plays in Ukraine) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Politekhnik 94-78 in the Ukrainian Superleague in Thursday night's game. He scored 13 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 28 minutes. Omoerah averaged so far 13.2ppg, 7.0rpg and 3.0apg in six games. He has dual citizenship: Canadian and Nigerian.

   #8. Ali Kanaan (207-C/F-85, college: Mass.-Lowell, currently plays in Lebanon) was not able to help Byblos in their game against Homentmen in the Lebanese LBL. Kanaan scored 9 points in 26 minutes. His team lost 95-103. This year Kanaan's total stats are: 5.1ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.1apg in seven games. He has Canadian and Lebanese nationalities.

   #9. Mfiondu Kabengele (208-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Florida St. (1-4) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Kabengele's very good performance the Florida St. was defeated 87-82 at home by the Boston College. He scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kabengele averaged so far 11.8ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.1bpg.

   #10. Kyle Johnson (195-G-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked Aubenas crushing them 81-57 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday. He was the best player in that game. Johnson recorded 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He averaged so far 11.1ppg and 2.8rpg. Johnson holds both British and Canadian passports.

Igualatorio Cantabria Estela Santander (LEB Silver) agreed terms with 27-year old Canadian swingman Taevaunn Prince (191-98kg-91, college: Missouri Southern State). He played last season at Bierzo Fitness Dentomedic CDP Ponferrada in the EBA. In 29 games he had very impressive stats: 22.2ppg, 5.7rpg, 3.4apg and 1.3spg. Prince helped them to win the group title.
