Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Canadians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Natalie Achonwa (190-92, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in China). She led Jiangsu Phoenix to a victory over the league leader Vermilion Birds (21-1) 89-78 in the Chinese WCBA in Monday night's game. Achonwa was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 42 points and getting 15 rebounds. Achonwa also added and 3 steals (made all of her twelve free throws !!!) in 37 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Jiangsu Phoenix (19-3) is placed third in the WCBA. It was her team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. It's Achonwa's first season with the team. She has individually a very good year with high stats. Achonwa averages: 24.2ppg, 11.0rpg, 2.1apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 58.1%(205-353) and FT: 82.5% in 21 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Canadian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA, currently plays in Poland). Fields could not help Energa Torun (6-3) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her very good performance Energa Torun was defeated 84-76 on the road by the lower-ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#7). Fields was the top scorer with 24 points. She also added 7 boards, passed 4 assists and added 3 steals. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Fields has very high stats. She averages: 17.8ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.9apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 47.7%, 3FGP: 32.4% and FT: 74.1%. Fields is in the roster of the Canadian senior national team.

Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe

   #3. The Canadian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser, currently plays in Euroleague). She was the main contributor in Bourges' victory against the seventh-ranked Castors Braine (1-5) 78-65 in the Euroleague on Wednesday night. Raincock-Ekunwe was the best player in that game. She scored 14 points and blocked 2 shots in 21 minutes. Tango Bourges Basket (4-2) is placed second in the Euroleague. Raincock-Ekunwe has relatively good stats this year: 13.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 2FGP: 68.3%(28-41) and FT: 76.5% in six games. She is also a member of the Canadian senior national team.

   #4. Forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah, currently plays in France) contributed to Lyon's victory against the eighth-ranked Flammes (3-6) 77-65 in the French LFB in Sunday night's game. Plouffe was the top player that evening. She scored 14 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Union Lyon Basket Feminin (8-1) is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This season Plouffe has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 6.9rpg, 3.7apg and 1.9spg. She is also Canadian national team player.

   #5. International power forward Miranda Ayim (191-88, agency: ProDep Management, college: Pepperdine, currently plays in France) was not able to help Basket Landes (5-4) in their last game. Despite Ayim's very good performance Basket Landes lost 81-86 in Montpellier to the higher-ranked (#3) Lattes. She was the second best scorer with 21 points. Ayim also added 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. Ayim is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in Basket Landes' roster. She has reliable stats this season: 14.7ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg in nine games. Ayim plays currently for the Canadian national team.

   #6. Guard Bridget Carleton (185-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an Iowa St.'s victory against the Drake University 86-81 in the NCAA last Sunday. She recorded 31 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The Iowa State University has conference record this season. Carleton has been at the team for four years. This year Carleton has very high stats. She averages: 17.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 4.1apg, 1.9bpg and 2.1spg. Carleton is an international player who is currently on the senior Canadian National Team roster.

   #7. International swingman Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (183-84, college: Utah, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Mondeville (0-9) in their last game. Despite her very good performance the bottom-ranked Mondeville was edged 75-72 at home by the much higher-ranked (#4) Roche. Gaucher-Smith was the top scorer with 26 points. She also added 5 boards, passed 4 assists and added 4 steals in 37 minutes. So far Mondeville lost all nine games in the Regular Season. Gaucher-Smith plays fourth season for the team. Gaucher-Smith has very impressive stats this year: 19.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.0apg and 2.3spg in four games. She is also Canadian national team player.

   #8. Swingman Cassandra Brown (189-92, college: Portland, currently plays in Greece) contributed to an Dafni Agioy's victory against the closely-ranked AO Eleutheria Moshatou (3-4) 69-57 in a derby game in the Greek A1 in Sunday night's game. Brown was the top player that evening. She recorded 20 points. AO Dafni Agioy Dimitriou (4-3) is placed sixth in the A1. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Brown's stats this year are: 14.9ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1spg. She used to play for the Canadian national team back in 2014.

   #9. International center Alexandria Kiss-Rusk (193-93, agency: Interperformances, college: McGill, currently plays in CEWL) couldn't help BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-2) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Kiss-Rusk's good performance BC Pharmaserv Marburg was crushed 74-50 in Hradec Kralove by the leading Sokol. She was the top scorer with 10 points. Kiss-Rusk also added 7 rebounds. Her team will play only one more game in the CEWL Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Kiss-Rusk's overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.0apg. She is also in the roster of the Canadian national team.

Center Kayla Alexander (193-91, agency: LBM Management, college: Syracuse, currently plays in Australia) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Canberra Capitals (8-5) crushing them 93-73 in the Australian WNBL last Friday. She was the top player that evening. Alexander recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds. She also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Adelaide Link Lightning (8-7) is placed fourth in the WNBL. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Alexander averaged so far 12.2ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.1apg. She is a former international player as three years ago she still played for the Canadian senior national team.

   #11. International guard Kia Nurse (183-96, college: Connecticut, currently plays in Australia) faced previously mentioned Kayla Alexander in the Australian WNBL last game. Nurse couldn't help Canberra Capitals in their game against Adelaide Lightning. She recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 26 minutes. Her team were badly defeated by 20 points 93-73. Nurse has very impressive stats this year: 16.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg in 13 games. She plays currently for the Canadian national team.

   #12. International point guard Miah-Marie Langlois (173-91, currently plays in Russia) couldn't help Dynamo NR (2-6) in their last game. Despite her good performance Dynamo NR was crushed 82-61 on their home court in Novosibirsk by the higher-ranked (#6) MBA. Langlois scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes. Langlois averaged so far 10.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 3.1apg and 2.3spg in eight games. She is also in the roster of the Canadian national team.

   #13. Former international forward Stephany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked COB Calais crushing them 65-45 in the French LF2 (second division) on Saturday night. Skrba recorded 6 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists. Skrba's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 9.4rpg, 1.6apg and 1.4spg. She used to play for the Canadian national team five years ago.

   #14. International guard Samantha Hill (177-94, college: Virginia Tech, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen in their game against TSV 1880 Wasserburg in the German DBBL, despite her very good performance in Sunday night's game. Hill was the top scorer with 17 points. She also added 5 rebounds in 36 minutes. But her team lost 64-74. This year Hill's overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg in eight games. She used to play for the Canadian national team last year.

   #15. Former international point guard Shona Thorburn (178-82, college: Utah, currently plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kimberley Gaucher-Smith and both played together in the last French LFB game. Thorburn couldn't help the league outsider Mondeville in their game against Roche. Despite her good performance last Saturday She scored 11 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Thorburn's total stats this season are: 8.1ppg, 4.6rpg and 6.5apg. She used to play for the Canadian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Canadian passport but never been selected to any of Canadian national teams:

   #1. Sara Simovic (173-G-95, agency: BeoBasket, college: UFV, currently plays in Croatia) led Pula C.Tours to a victory over the tenth-ranked Podravac (2-8) crushing them 82-59 in the Croatian Prva Liga on Saturday night. She was the top player that evening. Simovic recorded 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws); quite an impressive performance considering it's only her first season in pro basketball. ZKK Pula Crnja Tours (8-2) is placed third in the Prva Liga. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Simovic's stats this season are: 11.7ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.7apg and 1.7spg.

   #2. Kim Pierre-Louis (183-F/C-93, college: Massachusetts, currently plays in Germany) was the main contributor in a Gruner Stern Keltern's victory against the closely-ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (4-7) 82-64 in the German DBBL in Sunday night's game. She was the top player that evening. Pierre-Louis recorded 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. Gruener Stern Keltern (6-4) is placed fourth in the DBBL. Pierre-Louis' stats this year are: 14.1ppg and 7.2rpg in 10 games she played so far.

   #3. Experienced Rachael Vanderwal (175-G-83, college: Boston U., currently plays in EuroCup) was the major contributor in Gernika's victory against the closely-ranked Uniao Sportiva (1-5) 84-66 in the Eurocup last Thursday. Vanderwal scored 17 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 27 minutes. Lointek Gernika Bizkaia (3-3) is placed 26th in the Eurocup. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Vanderwal's overall stats are: 8.8ppg, 3.9rpg and 3.9apg in eight games. She has a dual citizenship: Canadian and British.

   #4. Jessica Lubin (185-C-90, currently plays in Slovakia) could not help Piestanske Cajky (7-4) in their last game. Despite Lubin's good performance Piestanske Cajky was crushed 87-64 on the road by the leading MBK Ruzomberok. She was the second best scorer with 10 points. Lubin also added 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Lubin averaged so far 14.0ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.5spg in 11 games.

   #5. Heather Lindsay (190-F, college: Carleton, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (0-11) crushing them 97-50 in the German 2.Bundesliga (second division) in Sunday night's game. Lindsay was the top player that evening. She recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 19 rebounds. Lindsay also added 2 blocks; not bad, considering it's only her first season in pro basketball. SG BBZ Opladen (5-6) is placed eighth in North group. Lindsay averaged so far 14.3ppg, 10.9rpg and 1.9bpg.

   #6. Melissa Rondinelli (184-F/C-91, currently plays in Belgium) was not able to help Laarne (3-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Rondinelli's good performance Laarne was crushed 83-60 at home by the higher-ranked Belfius Namur (#4). She was the top scorer with 13 points. Rondinelli also added 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Rondinelli averaged so far 14.8ppg and 4.6rpg. She is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and Italian.

   #7. Kristine Lalonde (178-G-91, college: Vermont, currently plays in Latvia) contributed to a 2-point Liepajas' victory against the seventh-ranked BC Tartu Ulikooli/Kalev 61-59 in the Latvian LSBL last Sunday. Lalonde recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 34 minutes. This year Lalonde's total stats are: 5.6ppg, 4.8rpg, 6.7apg and 1.6spg in 12 games.

   #8. Lauren Mortier (175-G-89, currently plays in Germany) faced previously mentioned Heather Lindsay in the German 2.Bundesliga last game. Mortier was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider ASC Theresianum Mainz (0-11) in their last game. Despite her very good performance the 11th-placed ASC Theresianum Mainz was crushed 97-50 in Leverkusen by the higher-ranked (#8) SG BBZ Opladen in the North group. Mortier was the second best scorer with 15 points. She also added 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Mortier's total stats are: 9.4ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.6spg in eight games.

   #9. Brianna Ghali (180-G, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (4-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her good performance the fifth-placed Ladybaskets Wuerzburg was crushed 85-55 in Heidelberg by the leading BasCats in the South group. Ghali was the top scorer with 13 points. She also added 3 steals. Ghali averaged so far 14.9ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.3apg. She has both Canadian and Swiss nationalities.

   #10. Sarah Shewan (188-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the S.Illinois University - Edwardsville 74-57 in the NCAA last Saturday. Shewan scored 6 points and blocked 3 blocks in only 14 minutes. This year Shewan's total stats are: 7.4ppg and 3.6rpg in 10 games.
