Munis Tutu
It was business as usual for the Carleton Ravens on Sunday, as they eased past the Guelph Gryphons 90-39 to take a perfect 10-0 record into the break. Carleton wasted no time getting going in this one, with guard Munis Tutu (183-PG-96, college: Loyola Mary) hitting a three ball just seconds into the game. The Ravens pushed their lead to 7-0 before giving up a basket, and would run out to a 17-3 lead before finishing the quarter up 21-7. A 10-0 run kicked off the 2nd quarter, before another three from Tutu forced a Guelph timeout with the visitors up 36-9. The lead would shoot up to 44-9, before the Ravens closed out the half by hitting the half century mark up 50-16. 3rd year forward Eddie Ekiyor (206-F-97) had a dominant opening 20 minutes, hitting 7 of 8 shots for 14 points. He'd finish with a game high 19 on the scoreboard. The second half saw the lead continue to grow as every player was able to contribute valuable minutes to the game. Newly repatriated U SPORTS man Isiah Osborne (196-G-96, college: UTEP) had a big 3rd quarter, knocking down 7 points and adding a block. Osborne finished the game with a pair of block, as did teammate TJ Lall (198-F). The team total of 6 rejections helped the Ravens hold Guelph to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters as they allowed their fewest points of the season so far. Five Ravens hit double digit scoring, led by Ekiyor (19) and Osborne (14). 5th year guard Mitch Wood topped the rebounding mark with 9, while Tutu led the way in assists with 6. Carleton sits atop the OUA East at 10-0 as the teams enter the winter break, as they look to put together another undefeated regular season. They're joined at the top by fellow 10-0 squad Ryerson, setting up a very enticing matchup when Carleton travels to Toronto on January 5th for a battle of the undefeated teams.
