We bring you last week's top performances from Canadians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA, currently plays in EuroCup). She was the major contributor in a Energa Torun's victory against the closely-ranked MBA (2-2) 95-86 in the Eurocup in Thursday night's game. Fields recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in 35 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only her third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Energa Torun (3-1) is placed first in the Eurocup. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Fields' first year with the team. Fields has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 16.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.3apg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 55.0%, 3FGP: 26.7% in four games she played so far. Fields is currently a member of the Canadian senior national team.

Miranda Ayim

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Miranda Ayim (191-88, agency: ProDep Management, college: Pepperdine, currently plays in EuroCup). She could not help Basket Landes (2-2) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Ayim's very good performance Basket Landes was edged 76-73 on the road by the lower-ranked Sint Kateline Waver (#3). She was the top scorer with 21 points. Ayim also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and made 2 blocks. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Ayim is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in Basket Landes' roster. This season she has very high stats. Ayim averages: 16.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.0apg, 2.3bpg, 2FGP: 64.3%(27-42), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 66.7%. She is in the roster of the Canadian senior national team.

Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe

   #3. The Canadian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser, currently plays in France). Raincock-Ekunwe led Bourges to a victory over the seventh-ranked Hainaut (3-4) crushing them 70-50 in the French LFB on Sunday night. She was MVP of the game. Raincock-Ekunwe recorded 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. Tango Bourges Basket (6-1) is placed second in the LFB. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Raincock-Ekunwe has relatively good stats this year: 12.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.3spg, 3FGP: 62.5% and FT: 52.4% in seven games. She is also a member of the Canadian senior national team.

Forward Katherine Plouffe (190-92, college: Marquette, currently plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe and both played together in the last French LFB game. Plouffe contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Hainaut (3-4) crushing them 70-50. She recorded 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Plouffe's overall stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg. She used to play for the Canadian national team last year.

International forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Bretagne Basket (3-4) crushing them 89-58 in the French LFB last Sunday. Plouffe recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in 33 minutes. Union Lyon Basket Feminin (6-1) is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Plouffe has relatively solid stats: 12.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 3.4apg and 1.6spg in seven games. She plays currently for the Canadian national team.

Power forward Natalie Achonwa (190-92, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in China) was the main contributor in a Jiangsu Phoenix's victory against the 15th-ranked Liaoning Hengye (4-13) 89-78 in the Chinese WCBA on Monday night. Achonwa was the best player in that game. She recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and getting 16 rebounds. Achonwa also added 2 blocks and 6 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Jiangsu Phoenix (14-3) is placed third in the WCBA. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This season Achonwa has very high stats. She averages: 23.8ppg, 10.8rpg, 2.1apg and 1.9spg. Achonwa is an international player who is currently on the senior Canadian National Team roster.

   #7. International center Ruth Hamblin (198-94, agency: LBM Management, college: Oregon St., currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Castors Braine (1-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite her good performance Castors Braine was edged 71-69 at home by the higher-ranked Nadezhda Orenburg (#6). Hamblin recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Hamblin's first year with the team. Her overall stats this season are: 6.3ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.0bpg. Hamblin is also Canadian national team player.

   #8. Guard Kia Nurse (183-96, college: Connecticut, currently plays in Australia) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Canberra Capitals (6-4) in their game against Perth Lynx (8-2) in the Australian WNBL, despite her very good performance on Friday night. She was the top scorer with 17 points. Nurse also added 9 rebounds in 36 minutes; not bad, considering it's only her first season in pro basketball. But Canberra Capitals lost 84-88 in Perth to the second-ranked Lynx. It was Canberra Capitals' third consecutive loss in a row. It's Nurse's first year with the team. Nurse has very impressive stats this season: 18.0ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.3apg in 10 games. She plays currently for the Canadian national team.

   #9. International swingman Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (183-84, college: Utah, currently plays in France) couldn't help the league outsider Mondeville (0-7) in their game against Nantes Reze (2-5) in the French LFB, despite her very good performance in Saturday night's game. Gaucher-Smith was the top scorer with 24 points. She also added 6 rebounds in 38 minutes. But the bottom-ranked Mondeville was edged 65-64 on their home court in Mondeville by the one of league's weakest teams (#11) Nantes Reze. So far Mondeville lost all seven games in the Regular Season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Gaucher-Smith has been at the team for four years. Gaucher-Smith has very impressive stats this season: 21.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.0spg in two games. She is also in the roster of the Canadian national team.

   #10. Guard Bridget Carleton (185-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an Iowa St.'s victory against the The University of Arkansas 91-82 in the NCAA last Sunday. Carleton recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 11 rebounds. She also added 4 assists. The Iowa State University has conference record this season. Carleton plays fourth season for the team. This year Carleton has very high stats. She averages: 17.1ppg, 10.1rpg, 4.6apg, 2.3bpg and 1.3spg. Carleton is an international player who is currently on the senior Canadian National Team roster.

   #11. International guard Daneesha Provo (183-96, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Seattle University crushing them 89-62 in the NCAA on Monday night. She scored 27 points (!!!), had 4 boards, passed 3 assists and added 5 steals in 27 minutes. Provo has reliable stats this year: 14.0ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.6apg and 2.4spg in seven games. She plays currently for the Canadian national team.

   #12. Former international center Kayla Alexander (193-91, also represented by LBM Management, college: Syracuse, currently plays in Australia) contributed to an Adelaide Lightning's victory against the closely-ranked Canberra Capitals 91-83 in the Australian WNBL in Sunday night's game. Alexander recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 13 rebounds. She also added 3 blocks. Alexander averaged so far 11.0ppg and 8.5rpg. She used to play for the Canadian national team back in 2015.

   #13. International center Alexandria Kiss-Rusk (193-93, agency: Interperformances, college: McGill, currently plays in Germany) managed to help BC Pharmaserv Marburg in a victory against the sixth-ranked Hannover 60-51 in the German DBBL last Saturday. Kiss-Rusk scored 5 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 25 minutes. Her stats this year are: 11.7ppg and 8.1rpg in 10 games. Kiss-Rusk is also Canadian national team player.

   #14. Former international forward Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau (193-95, college: Texas, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Eisvogel Freiburg in their game against TSV 1880 Wasserburg in the German DBBL, despite her good performance in Saturday night's game. Caron-Goudreau scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 36 minutes. But her team was edged 76-74. This year her overall stats are: 8.2ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.4bpg in five games. Caron-Goudreau used to play for the Canadian national team back in 2014.

   #15. Former U18 international forward Rashida Timbilla (189-92, college: Massachusetts, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen in their game against TV Saarlouis Royals in the German DBBL. Despite her good performance last Wednesday She recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Timbilla's total stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 12.2rpg, 2.3apg and 2.0spg. She used to play for the Canadian U18 national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Canadian passport but never been selected to any of Canadian national teams:

   #1. Jessica Lubin (185-C-90, currently plays in Slovakia) was the major contributor in a Piestanske Cajky's victory against the closely-ranked BAM Poprad (3-6) crushing them 75-42 in the Slovakian Extraliga in Sunday night's game. She had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds. Lubin also added 2 blocks and 3 steals in 32 minutes. Piestanske Cajky (6-3) is placed third in the Extraliga. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Lubin has reliable stats this year: 14.7ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.6spg in nine games she played so far.

   #2. Kim Pierre-Louis (183-F/C-93, college: Massachusetts, currently plays in EuroCup) led her German team Gruner Stern Keltern to a 3-point victory against the closely-ranked Cegledi EKK (0-4) 83-80 in the Eurocup in Thursday night's game. Pierre-Louis recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Gruener Stern Keltern (2-2) is placed third in the Eurocup. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Pierre-Louis' first season with the team. She has reliable stats this year: 13.8ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.3apg.

   #3. Sara Simovic (173-G-95, agency: BeoBasket, college: UFV, currently plays in Croatia) led Pula C.Tours to a victory over the closely-ranked Tresnjevka (5-3) 65-60 in the Croatian Prva Liga last Sunday. Simovic was the top player that evening. She scored 19 points in 36 minutes. ZKK Pula Crnja Tours (6-2) is placed fourth in the Prva Liga. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Simovic's first season with the team. Simovic has reliable stats this year: 10.8ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.9apg and 1.8spg in eight games.

   #4. Melissa Rondinelli (184-F/C-91, currently plays in Belgium) could not help Laarne (3-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her very good performance Laarne was defeated 80-65 at home by the higher-ranked Tulikivi (#3). Rondinelli was the top scorer with 23 points. She also added 7 rebounds. It's Rondinelli's first season with the team. Rondinelli has reliable stats this year: 14.4ppg and 4.4rpg. She has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Italian.

   #5. Experienced Rachael Vanderwal (175-G-83, college: Boston U., currently plays in Spain) contributed to Gernika's victory against the league outsider Universitario de Ferrol (0-8) 80-74 in the Spanish LFB on Saturday night. She scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Lointek Gernika Bizkaia (8-0) is placed second in the LFB. So far her team won all eight games in the Regular Season. It's Vanderwal's first season with the team. Vanderwal's overall stats this year are: 9.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.0apg and 1.4spg. She is another player who holds two passports: Canadian and British.

   #6. Brianna Ghali (180-G, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (4-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Ghali's very good performance the fifth-placed Ladybaskets Wuerzburg was defeated 73-59 on the road by the leading BasCats Heidelberg in the South group. She was the top scorer with 18 points. Ghali also added 5 rebounds. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Ghali averages: 15.1ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.5apg. She has both Canadian and Swiss nationalities.

   #7. Sarah Shewan (188-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Illinois' victory against the Eastern Michigan University 72-66 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Shewan scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). Her total stats this season are: 6.6ppg and 4.0rpg.

   #8. Nadege Pluviose (183-F, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Robert Morris in their last game. Despite Pluviose's good performance her team was crushed 92-63 on their home court in Pittsburgh by the University of Iowa. She scored 11 points and added 5 assists in 26 minutes. It was her first game for Robert Morris this season.

   #9. Heather Lindsay (190-F, college: Carleton, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help SG BBZ Opladen (4-6) in their last game. Despite Lindsay's good performance the eighth-placed SG BBZ Opladen lost 67-74 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#6) Rotenburg/Scheessel in the North group. She recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. Lindsay averaged so far 13.5ppg, 10.1rpg and 1.9bpg in 10 games.

   #10. Angelica Wiggins (175-G, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Incarnate Word in their last game on Tuesday. Despite her good performance her team was crushed 84-42 on their home court in San Antonio by the University of Arizona. Wiggins recorded 11 points. Her total stats this season are: 7.0ppg and 3.5rpg.
