Wesmen rally not enough in loss at Brandon - Oct 13, 2018

Tyvon Cooper
Five Winnipeg Wesmen scored in double-figures, but the Wesmen were left still in search of their first non-conference win. Sean Tarver had 20 points on 9 of 13 shooting and added eight rebounds, but the Wesmen dropped an 88-85 decision to the host Bobcats Friday night in Brandon. Tarver's last-second shot from the top of the three-point line fell short as an animated Wesmen bench reacted, calling for a goaltending ruling that never came. Tarver also had a team-high three steals. Joseph Medrano (183-PG) had 23 points to lead the Wesmen, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and played from behind for most of the game before rallying to pull even at 67 on a Don Dayrit (183-G) three 21 seconds into the fourth quarter. Adam Benrabah again came off the bench to give the Wesmen good reserve minutes, scoring 15 points - his fourth game in double figures in five outings in a Wesmen uniform since transferring from Algoma. Benrabah also chipped in seven rebounds and a game-high five steals. Dayrit and Narcisse Ambanza (188-G) both finished with 11 points, with Ambanza adding six assists and two steals. Tyvon Cooper (185-G, college: Orange CC) had a game-high 31 points to lead Brandon, which was celebrating its homecoming weekend. Pookie Saunders (185-G) gave the Bobcats 26 points and nine rebounds, while Troy Grant dropped 13 and nine.
