Fraser Valley B. - Hamilton HB 99-106

Bottom-ranked Fraser Valley B. is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Hamilton HB (3-2) 106-99. They made 30-of-38 charity shots (78.9 percent) during the game. Hamilton HB players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. 33 personal fouls committed by Fraser Valley B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Demetrius Denzel-Dyson (196-95, college: Samford) fired 32 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The other American import point guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) chipped in 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Tyrrel Tate (196, college: Fayetteville St.) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and Polish-Canadian center Dallin Bachynski (213, college: Utah) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hamilton HB moved-up to second place, which they share with Edmonton S. Fraser Valley B. at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Hamilton HB's next round opponent will be league's leader Niagara RL at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fraser Valley B. will play against Edmonton S. (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Saskatchewan R. - Edmonton S. 84-93

The most important game in the last round took place in Saskatoon between second ranked Saskatchewan R. (3-3) and fourth ranked Edmonton S. (3-2) on Friday night. Saskatchewan R. was defeated by Edmonton S. in a tough game at home 84-93. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Edmonton S. outrebounded Saskatchewan R. 55-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jordan Baker (201, college: Alberta) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: Mississippi St.) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Edmonton S. players scored in double figures. Edmonton S.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Bruce Massey (190, college: MTSU) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Tavrion Dawson (188, college: CS Northridge) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Saskatchewan R.Edmonton S. moved-up to second place, which they share with Hamilton HB. Saskatchewan R. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Edmonton S. is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Fraser Valley B. (#6) on the road in the next round. Saskatchewan R. will play against Guelph N. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

CEBL top team - Niagara RL (5-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Fraser Valley B. (0-5) 108-87. Niagara RL players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Ryan Anderson (193, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Bosnian-Canadian guard Nemanja Mitrovic (198, college: Portland, agency: 011 Sports) who added 20 points during the contest. Anderson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Tyrrel Tate (196, college: Fayetteville St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Rodney Pryor (196, college: Georgetown) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niagara RL have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record. Fraser Valley B. at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Niagara RL will play against league's second-placed Hamilton HB on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fraser Valley B. will play against Edmonton S. (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

CEBL top team - Niagara RL (5-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Guelph N. (2-3) 93-85. Niagara RL looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by forward Guillaume Boucard (198, college: Carleton) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 16 points and 4 assists by forward Chris Johnson (196, college: St.Bonaventure) did not help to save the game for Guelph N.. DR Congolese-Canadian forward Chadrack Lufile (206-90, college: Wichita St., agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five Niagara RL and four Guelph N. players scored in double figures. Guelph N.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niagara RL have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record. Loser Guelph N. keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Niagara RL will meet league's second-placed Hamilton HB on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guelph N. will play against Saskatchewan R. in Saskatoon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

MICHAEL FRASER Experienced Michael Fraser (203-C-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Hamilton HB and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 6. The 34-year old center had a double-double of 13 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team beat Niagara RL (#1, 6-2) 107-95. The game was between two of the league's top four teams.
