Oaks rally past Eagles

On January 18, the King's University Eagles Women's basketball team took on NAIT Polytechnic Ooks at The King's University gymnasium at 6:00 pm. In the first quarter, The game started off with both teams locked in defensively. Grace Culshaw (5'9''-G) was pivotal for the Ooks, hitting a fantastic shot, while Dior Sellars added a key three-pointer. For the Eagles, Megan Aleman (5'9''-G) was a standout, contributing three fantastic layups and a steal. Ella Majeau (5'6''-G) displayed excellent vision with several key passes, while Aneilia Ayotte (6'1''-F) also nailed a crucial shot. Jamie Bunting contributed a well-rounded effort, scoring with a pass, a layup, and a three-pointer. Tori Day hit a solid shot, and Kayla Soetart nailed a clutch three-pointer. In the second quarter, Lily Jensen shined for the Ooks, delivering a nice layup, while Payton Neilson (5'6''-G) added a three-pointer and followed it up with a rebound and layup. Mikah Reed also contributed with a great shot. On the Eagles' side, Alyssa Yorke (6'0''-F) showcased her versatility with a rebound, a shot, and a layup. Majeau continued her strong performance with solid defense and a three-pointer. Bunting added another three-pointer and shot, while Ayotte also contributed with a key shot. Ryan Queely knocked down a three-pointer, and Jordanna Rivet added a great shot to round out the Eagles' offensive output. In the third quarter, Grace Culshaw added a shot and a rebound, while Payton Neilson hit another three-pointer. Dior Sellars knocked down a key three-pointer, and Keanna Dewolfe made a solid shot to maintain the Ooks' momentum. On the other hand, the Eagles struggled to find their rhythm in this quarter. Bunting, Majeau, Yorke, Soetart, Ayotte, and Aleman all contributed in some capacity, but the Eagles' offense was limited to just three points in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, Lily Jensen blocked a shot for the Ooks, and Rory Vandermeer came alive with a layup, block, and shot. Mikah Reed added a three-pointer to keep the Ooks in the hunt, and Dior Sellars added a hook shot. However, the Eagles' offense came to life as Hailey Yorke knocked down a hook shot, Bunting made another shot, and Majeau hit a clutch three-pointer. Ayotte closed out the scoring with a key shot to help the Eagles secure the victory.
