Lakeland College Clinches ACAC Basketball Championship Title

In a showdown of epic proportions, Lakeland College emerged triumphant in the ACAC basketball championship final, defeating The King's University 61-50 in a thrilling display of skill and determination.
The championship game, held amidst a charged atmosphere, showcased Lakeland's dominance on the court, led by standout player Hineaupounamu Nuku, who not only led her team to victory but also earned the prestigious North Division Player of the Year award for her outstanding contributions throughout the season.
However, the excitement didn't end there. Earlier in the day, Briercrest College secured the bronze medal in a fiercely contested battle against STMU, with a final score of 80-74. The game witnessed an intense back-and-forth between the two teams, ultimately culminating in Briercrest's hard-fought victory.
Reflecting on the season's outstanding performances, Sandra Garcia-Bernal (5'6''-G) of Red Deer College was named the South Division Player of the Year, recognizing her exceptional talent and leadership on the court.
The First Team honors were also announced, showcasing the league's top performers from both divisions. Aneilia Ayotte (6'1''-F) of The King's University, along with Hineaupounamu Nuku of Lakeland College, led the North Division's standout players, while players like Kaylynn Tucker (G) of Keyano and Mackenzie Mrazik (5'10''-G/F) of Augustana showcased their remarkable skills.
In the South Division, players such as Rachel Harvey (5'7''-G) of Concordia and Sandra Garcia-Bernal of Red Deer College were recognized for their exceptional contributions to their respective teams' success throughout the season.
