Texas Basketball League Begins Play Starting On Thursday, January 3, 2008

Arlington, TX - The Texas Basketball League All-Star Game and the TBL Showcase highlight the 2008 Texas Basketball League basketball schedule which was released on December 15th, 2007. The All-Star Game will be played as part of the TBL Jam Session presented by Texas Sporting Goods at 2008 TBL All-Star in Dallas while the Texas Basketball League Showcase will take place from Jan. 3-5th in Arlington, Texas.

“The All-Star Game and the Showcase will become two pillars of our league,” said League Owner. “Both events offer our fans a chance to enjoy the outstanding brand of basketball played in the Texas Basketball League, and are tremendous experiences for our players. Importantly, they are also convenient opportunities for other semi-pro basketball GMs and scouts to evaluate the next crop of basketball contributors such as future All-Stars DJ Perkins, David Johnson, Derrick Washington, Micheal “Edward Scissorhands” Thomas from the world famous Rucker Park, Denalle Hale, Equale "Q" Lacey, Maurice Smith, Errol " Chase" Daniels, and Herman Banks.”

The first annual Texas Basketball League All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, April 5th in Dallas, Texas immediately following practices for the East and West All-Star Teams. TBL TV will broadcast the game live. The Texas Basketball League All-Stars will be selected by a vote that includes fans and TBL League coaches.
The First Annual Texas Basketball League Showcase debuts on January 3rd with every game televised live. All 8 Texas Basketball League teams will play at least one game each in Arlington in front of an expected gathering of scouts from other semi-pro leagues such as the USBL, ABA, WBA, and IBL.

“The Texas Basketball League Showcase will become one of the premiere locations for semi-pro scouts to evaluate talent for possible player acquisitions,” said Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations Brandon Conley. “Because it's the Texas Basketball League, the talent level is substantially better than the Texas Pro Basketball League, so we are expecting our best event yet in January.”
With the expansion to 8 teams during 2008 season and 12 teams during the 2009 season, the Texas Basketball League is realigning into two divisions for the 2008 season. The Southwest and West divisions will feature four teams each. Teams will play divisional foes 12 times during the regular season and square off with non-division opponents twice.

“The realignment and scheduling structure encourages divisional rivalries,” Brinkley said. “Plus, with this scheduling system, we had the ability to cut down on travel which we believe, in turn, will provide for a better product on the floor.”

The Divisions for the 2007-08 season will break down as follows:

Southwest Division

West Division

A 24-game regular season schedule for each team is highlighted by the total scheduled home games being played on the weekend, which has proven to be preferable to Texas Basketball League fans in their search for affordable, family entertainment options.

The first annual Texas Basketball League season begins January 3rd with four games. Also on opening night, the Texas Basketball League will have local radio stations street teams such as K104fm and 97.9fm the Beat.

Entering its inaugral season, the Texas Basketball League has been established to develop talent across all disciplines for the semi-pro basketball - has relocated its headquarters from Houston to Arlington to help foster the Texas Basketball League's continued growth by giving it direct access to the support and resources of the Southwest Basketball League, the original semi-pro basketball league in the state of
