Texas Basketball League Countdown to Tip-Off 2008 Season - Oct 6, 2007

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Basketball League today officially kicked off their countdown to tip off with the announcement of the league's first regular season games (Cavaliers versus Spurs and Lakers versus Celtics) , set to take place on Thursday, January 3rd at the Metro Academy in Arlington, Texas. Both games will be played at the Metro and the Cavaliers Game will begin the 7 p.m. (CST). Celtics Game with tip-off at 9 p.m. (CST). 3Ball Video Productions will broadcast the Cavaliers Game live starting at 7 p.m. on January 3rd (CST) and Courtside Entertainment will air the Cavaliers Game on Thursday, January 10th at 5 p.m. (CST).

Leading the Cavaliers squad will be Benjamin Brinkley, veteran basketball coach from the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs and the Texas Rim Rockers of the USBL. while Rey Caban, head basketball coach from Puerto Rico., will lead the Spurs squad. The head coaches for the Celtics Game are Julie Collie, a former basketball player from Vanderbilt and SMU and Jim McCleary, a vetern basketball coach from Pennsylvania, will coach of the Lakers.

"I've had a lot of all star and international experience dealing with other semi-pro basketball leagues and the Texas Basketball League is something that I really wanted to be involved with because it's the top basketball league in the state of Texas," said Rey Caban. "It's a great chance to meet and teach the best basketball prospects in the country and share their passion for basketball," added Caban.

Although the Texas Basketball League is often referred to as the "official semi-professional basketball league in the state of Texas," the real purpose of the league is to developing semi-professional basketball players for other semi-pro basketball league across the country and overseas.

Finally, The Texas Basketball League will be holding its league-wide basketball tryouts on October 20th and 21st at the Metro Academy in Arlington, Texas. Registration time will be 8 am - 9 am on both days with tryout sessions held from 2pm - 6pm. The camp site will be the Metro Charter Academy down the street from the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium; the address is 1111 Gibbons Street in Arlington, Texas 76011. Make all Money Orders or Cashier's Checks payable to the Texas Basketball League. Mail with registration form to: Texas Basketball League, P.O. Box 537, Arlington, Texas 76004.
