Regular Season Round 5: Phoenix - Riptide 81-88

The game between second ranked Phoenix (3-2) and seventh ranked Riptide (2-3) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Phoenix was defeated by Riptide in a tough game at home 81-88. Riptide outrebounded Phoenix 50-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Guard Kayla Moutry (175-1999, college: Tulsa) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and forward Jessica Woo (175, college: TAMIU) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Aquira Decosta (185-2000, college: Sacramento St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and guard Maddison Glass (163-1997, college: A&M-Commerce) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Riptide moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Royals. Phoenix at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Blaze. Riptide is looking forward to face Reign (#7) in Hayward in the next round. Phoenix will play on the road against the league's second-placed Swish (#2) in Oakland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
