Regular Season Round 4: Valkyrie - Blaze 60-102

Bottom-ranked Valkyrie is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fifth ranked Blaze (2-2) 102-60 on Saturday evening. Blaze held Valkyrie to an opponent 24.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.4 percent accuracy of the winners. The winners were led by Serbian power forward Jovana Subasic (193-1997, college: Oregon St.) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Doris Jones (175-1998, college: UCSB) supported her with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Blaze players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by guard Brooke Panfili (168, college: Sacramento St.) did not help to save the game for Valkyrie. Guard Giselle Mahinay (165, college: SF State) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Blaze moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Royals. Loser Valkyrie still closes the standings with four games lost. Blaze will meet at home Royals (#5) in the next round. Valkyrie will play against Swish in Oakland and hopes to get finally their first victory.
