Round 3 (Regular Season): Montreal T. hands first loss to KW Titans

There were just three rounds played in Regular Season of BSL and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of Titans (6-1) in Montreal on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Toundra (1-4) 110-103. Montreal T. made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 KW Titans turnovers. Montreal T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by KW Titans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Jeremy Hayes (193-1997, college: Angelo St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Swingman Kyle Steward (201-1995, college: UMKC) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Antoine Mason (191-1992, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) answered with 28 points for KW Titans. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toundra are looking forward to face Windsor Exp. (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titans will play against Lake Erie in Jamestown and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of Five (2-1) against Windsor Express (2-3) on Saturday night. Host Five was defeated by Windsor Express in Sudbury 120-107. It was a great evening for point guard Latin Davis (183-1997, college: WSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Shadell Millinghaus helped adding 28 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Charlie Marquardt (193-1995, college: Molloy) with 27 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Windsor Express will play against Montreal T. (#5) on the road in the next round. Five will play against KW Titans in Kitchener and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 3 KW Titans beat Montreal T. on the road 100-90.



Montreal T. - KW Titans 107-111

Titans (6-1) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat Toundra (1-4) in Montreal 111-107. KW Titans looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated also this game. It was a quality performance for guard Tarkus Ferguson (193-1995, college: UIC, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. point guard James Towns (178-1998, college: Niagara) accounted for 23 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Forward Tafari Beckford (196-1995, college: Davenport) came up with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jeremy Hayes (193-1997, college: Angelo St.) added 22 points and 5 assists respectively for Montreal T. in the defeat. Five Montreal T. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Titans will meet Lake Erie (#4) in the next round. Toundra will play against Windsor Exp. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game when Titans (6-1) beat Toundra (1-4) in Montreal 100-90 on Sunday. KW Titans made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KW Titans made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Tyler Groce (203-1998, college: Butler) who led the winners and scored 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Tarkus Ferguson (193-1995, college: UIC, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. American guard Jeremy Hayes (193-1997, college: Angelo St.) came up with 15 points and 6 assists and American-Puerto Rican swingman Dimencio Vaughn (196-1997, college: Rider) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Montreal T. in the defeat.
