Due to visa problems, the Americas Basketball International league start has been postponed again. The idea of Commisioner Anthony Toney is very good, but it is very hard to collect teams from outside USA and make them play vs local teams. According with a recent Mr. Toney communication to Usbasket.com, the ABI is working on a tournament with clubs from Guatemala and El Salvador involved to start in late May of June 2010. Then, the league will organize the 2010 edition of the Frewill Games in August, after that the soccer tournament run by the same organization will be finished.
The ABI is projecting a two week tournament with teams from the ABI, which will be from USA, El Salvador, Guatemala, and maybe Pamama (if they can get their visa) plus one or two teams from China. Tournament will run from August 5-7, 2010 and August 12-14, 2010 TBA
Also, the ABI is still looking for players that can play on the next level. All those willing like to play in the Freewill Games 2010 against the teams from China and the ABI teams from El Salvador and Guatemala, please contact Commissioner Toney at 205-276-8132 or go to www.abibasket.com
An ABI tryout camp will be held on April 30, 2010 and May 1, 2010
