The first team to be added to ABA record-setting expansion for the upcoming season is the Sowashee Apex located in Meridian, Mississippi is the latest team to join the league and will begin play when the season starts in November. "We're really pleased to have Alfred Wright as part of the ABA," stated ABA CEO Joe Newman . "He has quite a background with tremendous experience in sports and business."
"I've been in the arena of basketball the majority of my life," added Wright. "I've played for And1, as a pro an opened for the Harlem Entertainers, as well as being a former pro boxer and fight trainer. I'm looking forward to bringing the platform for others to rise with the ABA and utilize all of which the ABA has to offer. This is a very important point in my life and a great opportunity to work with this great league." Wright is currently a business owners, mentor and Certified National Trainer.

The other new team is Ephrata Thunder. Located in Ephrata PA (near Harrisburg), the team will be owned by Stephen Bergman, owner of the ABA Pottstown Flames. "We are always pleased when an ABA team owner adds a second team," stated ABA CEO Joe Newman . "It shows great confidence in the league. Stephen has done a great job in Pottstown and we know that he will do well in Ephrata."
The Ephrata Thunder will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division which includes teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, DC, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. More details to follow.
