The unranked Atlanta Aliens are proving that they are one of the most competitive teams in the ABA and definitely one of the best ABA teams in the State of Georgia. This past weekend, the Aliens were faced with two elimination games and survived.
In Game 1 Saturday, the Pensacola Lightning traveled to Atlanta for the Play-in game and the Aliens won 150-103. Immediately from the tip-off, the Aliens quickly took control of the game with their infamous defensive pressure and built a 29-3 lead. From there they cruised with a 72-59 halftime lead and never looked back. Seven Aliens were in double figures with Rashad Faust (6'8''-F/C-87, college: Co.Georgia) leading all scorers with 34 pts and 10rebs, Michael Stanley (6'2''-G, college: Emmanuel, GA) followed with 32 pts and 10 ast, Anthony Calloway (6'3''-G, college: Clark Atlanta) and Jacqueis Murrell (6'3''-G) both had 20 pts, Thomas Brown (6'7''-F-86, college: Lamar) and Alex Bonner (6'3''-G, college: LaGrange) each had 15 pts, Jeremy Steele (6'1''-G) 12pts.
In Game 2 on Sunday, the Atlanta Aliens took the road and traveled to play Power Ranked River Region Generals in Montgomery, Alabama and won 130-112. The Generals quickly took control of the game making nearly all of their shots to build a seventeen point lead but in the second quarter the Aliens made adjustments to re-establish their composure and took flight carrying a 72-56 halftime lead then coasted the remainder of the game. Aliens Point Guard and floor General Michael Stanley (6'2''-G, college: Emmanuel, GA) was unstoppable recording his 5th triple double of the season with 42 pts, 11 rebs and 12 ast. The team defensive catalyst Anthony Calloway followed with 38pts, 8ast, 6rebs, 5stls, Rashad Faust 32 pts and 10 rebs, Alex Bonner 10 pts and Jeremy Steele 6pts.
Atlanta Aliens will continue their quest to the ABA Finals and travel to Nashville Tennessee and play the Music City Kings. Both teams split games winning on their home court but now this is Post Season. Win or go home!
