On February 2nd 2019, South Florida Gold teamed up against St. Pete Tide in Lake Worth, Florida and everyone was excited to see this match up as St. Pete Tide is one of the strongest teams in the Southeast Region. St Pete Tide just coming off a loss to the GOLD the previous weekend, definitely had something to prove.
The game started off neck to neck as they battled back and forth after the first quarter the score was GOLD 33 vs Tide 29
The Tide were on the move with two former Gold players, Jeff Remington and Eddie Tolliver who are really talented players.
The second quarter started with a line up ready for battle Chris Cromartie (6'3''-G-88, college: Gordon), Kenny Holmes (6'0''-G-93, college: S.Wesleyan), Dennis Rumph (6'6''-C, college: Lander), Chuck McRoy and Tavin Cummings (6'5''-F-92, college: Miles) they handled the Tide on the court and at halftime the score was the Gold 72 vs Tide 54.
Chris Cromartie and Kenny Holmes started firing on all cylinders and it was raining threes.
At halftime Coach J.R. Gamble (6'3''-G, college: Queens, NC) changed strategies, since the former Gold players now playing for the Tide knew of his coaching ability, having played for Gamble in the past.
The third quarter the GOLD came out and never lost steam. In fact the heat even turned up more and Chris Cromartie started distributing the ball and rebounding the game as he is called the "Maestro" boxing out and doing it on both sides of the court.
At the end of the 3rd Quarter the score catapulted to the Gold 123 vs Tide 77 and there was no stopping in site.
The fourth quarter the GOLD were on a mission and you could see there was history forming for the Gold but also for the American Basketball Association. The GOLD's dynamic duo Chris Cromartie and Kenny Holmes distributed the ball back and forth and seized every opportunity to steal the ball. Chuck McRoy and Dennis Rumph handled the the inside game and Chris Cromartie continued to box out and crash the boards at only 6' tall.
At the final buzzer the score was Gold 153 vs Tide 97 and the stats were quite impressive.
Chris Cromartie 23 pts, 17 rebounds, 15 Assists, and 10 Steals (Quadruple Double)
Kenny Holmes 21 pts, 11 Assists and 10 rebounds (Triple Double)
Chuck McRoy 25 pts and 10 Rebounds. (Double Double)
Dennis Rumph 16 pts and 10 Rebounds. (Double Double)

Chris Cromartie did the impossible and made history for the American Basketball Association. Not to mention he joined a group of only (4) elite players in the National Basketball Association.
Facts of history: In the current triple-double crazy world, it shouldn't be difficult to understand what a quadruple-double is.
Either way, let's get it straight. Similar to a triple-double, a quadruple-double is recorded when a player registers double figures in any four of the five primary stat categories - points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
In the 71-year history of the league (NBA), there have only been four quadruple-doubles recorded, all by four different players.
It's a rare feat and also immensely difficult, thus the small number.
Here we list the player, their opponent, the day and the legacy of the players who recorded this uncommon feat:

#4 Nate "The Great" Thurmond
Stats: 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 12 blocks in 45 mins
When: Oct. 18, 1974
Against: Atlanta Hawks

#3 Alvin Robertson
Stats: 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals
When: Feb. 18, 1986
Against: Phoenix Suns
He recorded the quadruple-double with steals rather than blocks.

#2 Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon
Stats: 18 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 11 blocks
When: Mar. 29, 1990
He recorded two Quadruple Doubles

#1 David Robinson
Stats: 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks
When: Feb. 17, 1994
Against: Detroit Pistons

Now we can add our very own SOUTH FLORIDA GOLD Professional Basketball Player for the American Basketball Association to this ELITE CLASS of EXTRAORDINARY MEN.

#0 Christopher "The Maestro" Cromartie
Stats: 23 points, 17 rebounds, 15 Assists, and 10 Steals. (First player in ABA history to record a Quadruple Double)
When: Feb. 2, 2019
Against: St Pete Tide
