Atlanta Aliens are back to play their 10th season in 2018-2019 ABA Pro Basketball. After a few off-season acquisitions, the unranked Atlanta Aliens traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to play against the #19 Power Ranked Magic City Surge but lost 129-125 in Overtime. According to General Manager/Head Coach Duck Richards , this is the best way to start the season by playing a quality opponent at their gym to measure what we have as a team.
The Unranked Atlanta Aliens came to battle and it showed early in the first half as both teams exchanged gaining the lead back and forth. By halftime, Surge was up 60-57. In the third quarter, the Aliens came out flat and the Surge took a commanding 22 points lead. Nevertheless, the Aliens didn't quit as Coach Duck defensive strategy was applied to tie the game late in the forth quarter. As time was winding down at the end of regulation down by 1 point with 1.6 seconds on the clock, Aliens player Deangelo Anthony (5'11''-PG, college. Allen University) was fouled while in 3-D and shot 3 free throws. He made one and missed two sending the game in overtime. In the overtime, the Surge took advantage of having a second chance and sealed the victory.
The Aliens were led in scoring by a 3-Headed Monster Rashad Faust (6'8''-F/C-87, college: Co.Georgia), Michael Stanley (6'2''-G, college: Emmanuel, GA) and Jeremy Steele each scored 30pts a piece. Deangelo Anthony 15pts, Maleek Taylor (SG)12pts) JJonathan Simpson (6'8''-F-87, college: Clark Atlanta) had 10pts, and Jesten Daniel 6pts.
Atlanta Aliens next game will be November 18, 2018 against the Port City Tornadoes in Mobile, Alabama
