  Vermont wins the ABA Championship
The Vermont Frost Heaves defeated the Texas Tycoons 143-95 in fromt of their fans at the Barre Municipal Auditorium, to win the 2007 ABA Championship. The city of Barre and the Frost Heaves will celebrate with a parade and potluck dinner tonight. The Tycoons started quickly the final game with 2 early three pointers to lead 6-2, but the hospitality ended there and Vermont took an 8-7 edge and never looked back. Smothering full court pressure forced many Tycoon turnovers and three point sharp shooting by Aaron Cook (6'2''-G-83, college: Hartford) and Tyrone Levett (6'5''-G/F-80, college: Alabama St.) of the Frost Heaves forced a pace that Texas couldn't match and after one quarter, Vermont led 42-18. The second quarter was played evenly until the five minute mark, when Vermont went on a 15-0 run to close out the half and take a 79-46 lead to the locker room. Texas never pulled to closer than 18 in the second half and the championship was in hand. Vermont reached the century mark on Melvin Creddle (6'1''-G-82, college: Mount Olive)'s free throws with 6:03 left in the third quarter. The Heaves slowed the pace in the 4th quarter, with the game in hand and the crowd was treated to some spectacular athletic dunks by both teams. Vermont was paced by Tyrone Levett with 33 points on 6-7 shooting from three point range, Aaron Cook with 25, Melvin Creddle with 21 and Antonio Burks with 20. Kelvin Parker (6'0''-G-82, college: NW Missouri St.) added 11 points and 14 assists. Josh Bryant (6'7''-F-82, college: St.Joseph's) led Vermont with 12 rebounds. Texas had five players in double figures, led by Donnie Beacham (6'5''-F-81, agency: ND Corner Sports, college: Texas Arlington) with 16.
