About the ABA

Established in 1967, the ABA was the new and exciting professional basketball league with the trademark red, white and blue basketball. Contrasting with the NBA because of the fast-paced game and enormously colorful characters, it is the league that brought you the first three point shot and the slam dunk contest. In addition to this, it is the league that first gave you such great players as Julius 'Dr. J' Erving, Moses Malone, Artis Gilmore, Larry Brown and George Gervin.

The ABA spirit was revived in the year 2000 with eight teams taking to the court around the nation for a new era of play. Since that time, the league has grown each year. Now over sixty teams a record number for the ABA- lace up to play for the 2010-2011 Season. Expansion for 2011-2012 is currently underway, which means the leagues growth continues to exceed previous projections. With the current number of teams, the ABA is the largest sports league in the world. ABA teams are unique from any other league because of the local ownership and expansive community involvement.

ABA basketball is high energy, slam dunking, non-stop, family entertainment at affordable prices. Come and see how nostalgia and modern hoop styles mix in a unique basketball environment that is the ABA!!!!!
