How is this remotely possible? Teams jump at almost any player 6'8' and above, but he remains unsigned. Is it that teams find it hard to believe that a player his size is truly a SG? For those who have seen this kid play, they know that its all legit. He runs the floor, has a quick 1st step, extremely athletic, high percentage shooter from long range, can rebound and play defense on nearly all 5 positions. How is this possible, I ask?

Marietta, GA - The SEBL Baseline club, coached by Marcus Hughes continues to be the surprise of the King of Hoops Tournament this weekend at All Tournament Players Park. VIP, who won the nationally renowned tournament a couple of summers ago, became the second former title holder to fall to the upstart SEBL-Baseline Warrior squad. The Warriors also got by Dirty South earlier in the tournament. . In what has become pattern for the Warriors, they started out slowly and fell behind by as many as 17-8 early in the game. After sizing the situation up and making some key adjustments, Hughes and the Warriors fought back to take the lead. VIP did not go away easily as the game stayed close through out the second half, until several key baskets by Ernest Scott (6'7''-F-82) helped the SEBL pull away down the stretch for an all-important 92-84 win. . The win means the Warriors move into Sunday's set of games still in the winners bracket and the opportunity to get ample rest to prepare for their next game at 1:00pm against a very good Team Momentum out of Dallas, TX. Momentum, who is the only other team remaining in the tourney without a loss, is the reigning title holder of the King of Hoops Tournament that was held in Texas earlier this summer. Had the Warriors fallen against VIP, the would had had to play at 10:30am on Sunday morning, so the opportunity to rest is paramount. . SEBL-Baseline Roster: . William Belton of Al Rayyan (6'1''-G-84, college: Wofford) Brandon Gatson (6'1''-G-85, college: Kentucky St.) Derrick Allen (6'5''-G-85, college: Valdosta St.) Quin Humphrey (6'4''-G-84, college: Youngstown St.) Markel Humphrey of Magixx (6'6''-F-87, college: Marshall) Ernest Scott of Team Japan (6'7''-F-82, college: Valdosta St.) Chad Eichelberger (6'9''-F-82, college: St.Andrews) Rahshon Turner (6'7''-F-75, college: Fairleigh Dickinson) Evan Brock of Guaiqueries de Margarita (6'9''-F-84, college: Alabama) Darian Burke (6'9''-C-81, college: Colorado St.) . Marietta,GA - The SEBL-Baseline Warriors fought back from a dismal start to claim a big 95-91 upset over Dirty South on Saturday afternoon at All Tournament Players Park in the King of Hoops. The win moved SEBL to the quarter final round, where they will face VIP, another tourney favorite who has a KofH title under their belts. DeAndre Bray (5'6''-G-85, college: Jacksonville St.) and Sylvester Morgan (6'10''-C-83, agency: ACMT, college: Georgia St.) got South off to a great start offensively while Baseline struggled to find the bucket. With much energy and hustle, along with several treys from Bray and easy putbacks by Morgan, they built a quick 21-7 spread. Their lead remained constant through much of the first, but the SEBL began turning the tide, as Derrick Allen (6'5''-G-85) and Ernest Scott (6'7''-F-82) of Team Japan drained several three pointers. William Belton (6'1''-G-84, college: Wofford) did a stellar job of quarterbacking the SEBL offense and by half-time, the Dirty South lead had been trimmed down to 48-42. . Early in the second half, South pushed back out to a nine point lead, but the Warriors made some adjustments on defense and began commanding the middle, and badgering the South into tough shots. Coupled with a series of transition baskets, punctuated by two monster slams by Markel Humphrey (6'6''-F-87) of Magixx KidsRights Nijmegen , the Warriors also got key post up buckets by veteran pro Rahshon Turner (6'7''-F-75) of Vive Menorca . The SEBL went on a 23-4 run to race out to a 75-64 lead. Adrian Jones (6'5''-F/G, college: Georgia) nailed an open three and the South stayed close as the game began to wind down. However, the Warriors countered with unselfish play, finding easy shots around the paint. . After a Turner tri-fecta, the Warriors pushed out to a 92-80 lead with 2:50 left in the game, seemingly breaking South's backs. But, after a time out, South came out in a full court press, created several turnovers. Morgan got a putback, followed by a trey by Jones, and the lead was quickly cut to 92-85. Two more ill advised turnovers by the Warriors allowed the South to capitalize with a Jones drive to the cup and a Mark Davis dunk down the middle. Suddenly, the lead was down to three with under a minute remaining. The SEBL faltered again by failing to run the shot clock down and protecting the ball, after an errant pass that caromed off the leg of Derrick Allen, the South again answered to cut it to 92-91 with 28 ticks left. Belton was fouled on the ensuing possession as he broke through a trap. He sank the first one, then missed the second. The South couldn't convert, but back on the other end, clogged up Belton as he drove to the middle of the lane looking to kick to the wing, defender's hands tipped the ball, got tied up for a jump ball with 19 seconds showing. The South won the tip and called timeout to advance the ball to half-court. On the inbounds, the South could not answer on several attempts, but the chances were abundant. Sylvania Watkins (6'9''-F, college: Crichton) missed a short shot but the rebound bounced out and back to the South. Then, Richard Jeter (6'6''-G/F-80, college: Atlanta Metro JC) had a great look from beyond the three and couldn't convert, but again the South battled for the rebound. Jones dribble drive was off the mark, but the deflected ball was batted off an SEBL player, again keeping the South's chances alive. After what seemed like South's 14th timeout of the game, they inbounded the ball with 4 clicks on the clock, got the ball in at the wing and Jeter's three attempt deep in the corner went long. The Warriors' Markel Humphrey secured the rebound and was quickly fouled. He iced the win by sinking both freethrows.
The win advanced the Warriors to the Final Four of the winners bracket where they were scheduled to take on VIP.
