The Tijuana Diablos have signed Otis Hailey as their Head Coach, along with David Abramowitz (183-G-80, college: San Diego St.), James Penny (198-F-76, college: TCU), Jamal Palmer (206-C-76, college: Millersville), & Shawn Daniels (199-F-78, college: Utah St.)
After negotiating with Dennis Johnson for over a month, the Tijuana Diablos held a press conference announcing former IBA Head Coach & CBA assistant Otis Hailey as their Head Coach for the 2003-2004 ABA season. Coach Hailey brings with him a wealth of experience in the US minor league system, having coached in the Midwest Basketball Association, the XBL, CBA and IBA.

Team owner Carlos Atilano said "I am very happy to be able to bring in an experienced coach that the fans of the city of Tijuana are already familiar with and who has proven that he is capable of bringing in quality players, much like he did in Bakersfield." The Diablos, slated to begin camp at the end of the week are expecting the arrival of their first signees within the next few days.

The Vipers finished off the Diablos last weekend with a stunning 108-104 victory at Ridgview High School in Bakersfield. Led by Marquis Melton (201-F-74, agent: Kritza Ted, college: Bowie St.)'s 24 points, the Vipers rallied from a 58-49 halftime deficit to defeat the Diablos at the free throw line in the closing seconds of the game.

The game was placed in Mexicali, B.C. before a crowd of 1,100+. The Diablos were led by David Capers (191-G-76, agent: Hart Michael, college: St.Bonaventure) with 21 points and Llewelyn Cole with 15.

The tour which will consist of games between the Diablos and the teams of the Liga Mexicana de Pacifico will run until July 8. Cities to be visited include La Paz, Los Cabos, as well as Mexicali. The team will also feature members of the Bakersfield Vipers who will join the tour in the coming weeks.
